I just don't like the phrase "Man-date". I know what it means. I get that it's two straight guys hanging out. I just didn't realize why until recently. Referring to it as a Man-date implies that preparation and scheduling was involved. Men don't do that. We just show up, usually with beer. The idea of the Man-date is something I think is the result of the further feminising of men. Metrosexuality was a bust, so now pop culture is finding another way to make men more like women by applying women's social habits to men. I say let men be men. Let them hang out instead of Man-date, and have friends instead of Bromances. Enjoy the fact that there are things that women will like that men will have no idea why, and things that men will do all day, leaving the women scratching their heads. Celebrate the differences between men and women, don't bridge them.

You can "just show up" when you're 16 and you have nothing else to do...
When you have a job, or you're in College, or have different things to take care of, a bit of planning is not just required, but even necessary if you want to have a night out with a friend.

Preparation and scheduling are absolutely parts of my hanging out with guy friends. It'd be almost impossible otherwise.
