When I watch a standard DVD on my player, the sound is excellent, But when I watch a Blu-Ray disc on it, the sound is considerably lower. Anyone have any idea why this might be?

Don't know what to tell you, I have a problem similar to that with my LCD tv and regular dvd player. When I am watching tv I can put my tv on 4 for volume and hear it fine, but when I am watching a dvd on the same tv I have to crank it up to like 11.
Also, I am having a problem with my dvd player that does a 1080p upconvert, the higher up conversion I do the darker the picture gets, to the point where it becomes unwatchable. Any ideas what that could be?

That's EXACTLY what I'm talking about. on a standard DVD I can have the volume at about 10-12 and be fine. On a Blu-Ray it has to be at at least 20.
