So am I a freak for not being into music? Seems like 98% of people I know love music, or are really into a certain group or groups. I mean, I like some songs, but usually it's just one or two of a certain band and thats it. I just don't get all the "feelings" people talk about when talking about songs they like. I hate when people ask me what kind of music I listen too. Because besides Nine Inch Nails, I don't really have bands that I love or have to here there new songs. I hate Top 40, I hate listening to the radio, and I could maybe name 50 songs I like and thats it. A lot of people are madly in love with music, on all levels. Some people like a certain genre or groups, but I really can't say I do. I go weeks without seeking out music to listen to. Am I the only one who isn't "In" to music in the least? *note:sorry if anything is misspelled, as some of you know I recently broke my hand and have to type with my thumb and one good hand

No, not at all. That's perfectly understandable. I didn't care about music at all until about 14 or so and then it clicked. I could completely imagine someone never going through that moment. There are always things that don't click with certain people. Some people don't get music, some people don't get comic books, some don't get pro wrestling.

People have there interests, and they have things that don't interest them, so no, it's not wrong. A lot of people I know, for example, are madly in love with poetry and go on about how great poetry is, but with a few exceptions (a few standout William Blake, Lord Byron, or Edmund Spenser works, for example), it doesn't do anything for me. When I friend of mine once showed me his book of Kerouac (sp?) poems and raved about how they changed his whole outlook on life and are his emotional rock, I just looked at them and saw a bunch of weird, barely-grammatical sentances.
It would be a problem if your lack of musical interest were out of some arrogant, pretentious "music is a pointless invention and the people who say they like it are only trying to conform" mentality (the Kerouac-loving friend I just mentioned was HORRIBLE with how much he dished out the "everything I don't like is meaningless drivel" attitude). But as long as you don't judge other people for liking music, they shouldn't judge you for not doing so.

Not really.
I was just as not interested as you are until I was 19, then a casual event introduced me to the awesome world of classic/hard rock, where it all started for me.
But it's not "mandatory" being a music buff, or a fan of this or that genre.
Just because many are in love with music, it doesn't matter you're weird for not liking a lot of it. Actually I'd rather have "non fans" like you than dealing with fanboys trying to convince me that whatever Musical Fad of the Week they follow is the best thing ever happened in music.

I never really got into music until about 3 or 4 years ago, so I feel your problem. Just don't overthink everything, especially with questions like this. It's uncommon, but that doesn't make you a freak. Music's just another form of entertainment after all. Just like there are people who're not into video games, or theater, there might as well be people who're not into music.

I like music a lot, but I'm not passionate about any one aspect of it.

I didn't listen to any music, whatsoever until I hit the 10th grade... I had about a year of Beach Boys when I was five or six years old... but that's it.
Of course, once I got into it.. I dove headlong into it. But, it just appealed to me at that time.
In my opinion, it's better to not listen to anything by choice, than to force yourself to listen to stuff to fit in.

No, you're not. I was raised on all different types of music, so I grew up loving it, but I know people that aren't really into it, and that's fine.

Nope, not a freak, I'm the same way. I mean, I enjoy music, but I just can't understand non-musicians who say "music is my life". To me its just background noise, and most of the time I don't even have it on in the background!

I don't think there's anything wrong with that. You may just be going through a stage or maybe that's just you. If that's who you are and how you feel then I think it's ok.
It could also be that you haven't discovered what really gets you yet.

I find it quite weird, but then again I'm one of those people who can't cope without music for any amount of time (in other words, half an hour.)
Edit: Oh, and get hand-well soon.
