so i just bought an 30 gb IPOD and im having a hell of a time figuring it out. I bought it off a friend so I dont have any manuals or instructions.. but here the question
I have the songs Im wanting to transfer from my computer to my Ipod and Im pretty sure Ive gotten that much figured out. I moved them from my "share folder" into my itunes Library, then I go to file and I synq it... everythings goood the songs show up on my ipod so everything seems to work. I dont want all these songs taking up my hardrive space so after they are on my ipod.. I delete them from the program I use to download them, then I delete them from my itunes Library... So then i go and add more songs from another band to my empty I tunes library... file then i synq it to my ipod again and it shows up but..
The first bach of songs from the first band are nowhere to be found..its like everytime I go to synq a new band to my ipod..it deletes the first set!
so im confused..do i not hit synq or something?... everytime i synq the new songs it deletes the ones I just put. Also, do i have to leave the songs in my iturnes library?.. i mean after they are added to my myspace, cant i delete them from my hard drive?
im lost!

Odd.
I thought you could just drag and drop them and have no problems.
Would be a weird thing to delete any songs that were on there to replace them with what you're adding.

If I'm understanding what you're saying right, the issue is that you can't delete the files from your itunes library, sync it again and then expect the songs to remain on your ipod. It's gonna sync with the itunes library with whatever is in there at the time of syncing. So, if you took the songs out, they're gonna come off your ipod.
Anytime I've even moved an mp3 that I had already put in my itunes from one folder to another, it says it can't find the mp3 and I have to find it for itunes in the new folder. So I would assume the same kind of principle would apply to you deleting the mp3 completely off your computer - itunes won't be able to find it.
At least, that's how it's always worked for me. I could just not know how to delete songs from my computer/itunes and keep them on my ipod even after a new sync.

Make sure you have it set so the ipod is working as a hard disk. Go to itunes with your ipod plugged in. on the menu there should be three check boxes, make sure that one is checked, otherwise it always syncs it to what is actually in itunes. If you deleted songs, then it will sync that they are gone.

The guy who had it before you probably clicked the "don't show this message again" check box.
Glad you got things working.

Basically, syncing means that you make your iPod exactly like your iTunes library. If you removed those songs from the first batch they're not gonna be there the next time you sync it. I was kinda confused at first too, and I HAD manuals and stuff.

You can still delete songs from your hard drive, but you can't delete them from the iTunes library. If you deleted the song from your hard drive, you wouldn't be able to listen to it on iTunes, but you would on your iPod.
