was known to be a drunk and child molester/pedophile. I've never heard he was a pedophile, and an internet search is telling me that it's a rumor that hasn't been substantiated. Audie Murphy did suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and I know he was a drunk and got into some trouble.

Yeah, the drunk thing is common and, I have heard that he might have killed a few in a drunken rage and had it covered up but, never the pedophile stuff. (Talk about about a weird off topic).

World War 2 Hero and Legend Audie Murphy. The man won the most awards in US Military History(up to that point, he's actually second behind a man who won more in Vietnam) Murphy was part of the 3rd ID, starred as himself in a few movies and was known to be a drunk and child molester/pedophile. Wow, I did not know that and am from his hometown (or at least one of two that claims that). I have never seen or heard anything supporting this one. I was stationed at one time at Fort Benning in Geogria, the "Home of the Infantry" They have an Infantry/War history library there that has an extensive Audie Murphy section. It's mostly used by soldiers who are studying for thr Audie Murphy Board, since it's know to have questions pertaining to his Military Career. Murphy was at one time homeless and an alcholic before he entered service. He spent time in a jail for a number of different charges, one of them being innapropriate acts with a minor. So, he may not have actually been a pedophile or child molester, but he was arrested for it as a teenager.

back on topic: "Take Me Out" by Franz Ferdinand.
Most seem to think it is a dancy poppy date song. It is a dancy poppy song about two snipers gunning for each other.

Suicide Solution by Ozzy, its actually a warning about drinking oneself to death. Highway to Hell by AC/DC, its actually about being on the road (though i dont get the metaphor behind "hey satan, paid my dues").

"The Future's So Bright (I Gotta Wear Shades)" by Timbuk 3 is about a nuclear holocaust, I believe. Not everything being so awesome and bright that sunglasses are needed.

People who use "I Will Always Love You" by Dolly Parton, as their wedding song (though they usually use the Whitney Houston cover). They don't realize the song is about an ex-lover.

I'm pretty sure the whole "White Rabbit" song is using the Alice In Wonderland backdrop as a metaphor.
Infact here is a quote from Wikipedia: "Slick has stated that White Rabbit was a response towards parents who asked why their children were taking drugs. According to her, books that parents would read to their children, such as Alice in Wonderland, encouraged them to experiment with substances since surreal and colorful imagery was often used."

"Brown Eyed Girl". A lot of people think it's about butt sex. It isn't.
Another rumor is that "In The Air Tonight" is about an incident where Phil Collins saw someone who was in the position to save a person from drowning but didn't do anything. It's really about being angry about a divorce or break up.

It's so bright from the nuclear explosions going on you'd need shades to be able to not have your eyes completely destroyed... well before you know the radiation and whatnot get you

Opium and LSD are not the same thing. Lewis Carroll was all about the opium, not LSD. LSD wasn't first synthesized until 1938. The CIA tested it on non-consenting soldiers in the 1950s and 1960s. It wasn't until that time that its recreational usage became widespread. Carroll died in 1898.

It's really about being angry about a divorce or break up. I'd always thought that was what it was about due to these lines from Eminem's 'Stan'

When I was in college a lot of the girls I knew were crazy about "Escape: The Pina Colada Song" and how "beautiful" it was. I had to inform them it was about infedelity. Their counter argument was that they find out they are meant for each other, I recountered with the fact they were both looking to cheat on each other so it doesn't matter

I heard "More Than Words" has a deviant sexual undertone to it.

"Alive" by Pearl Jam. People construed the song as being an uplifting one about being a survivor, but Eddie Vedder intended it to be a song about despair after living through childhood trauma. The "I'm still alive" wasn't meant to sound determined and strong, but was meant to convey despair, wondering why he was allowed to live while people around him were dying and he was undergoing so much hardship.
Still, Eddie has acknowledged the fans' interpretation, and said that he appreciates how the fans turned a negative song into a positive one.

I had no clue for a long time that "I Still Remember" by Bloc Party was about a guy wanting to f*** one of his guy friends when he was in school.

Fight for Your Right (to Parrrrrrrty) by the Beastie Boys wins
It was make to mock generic party songs, only it became a generic party song itself in many people's eyes, one of the most popular ever in fact.
Which is why they never play it live.

The Number of the Beast by Iron Maiden isn't a pro-Satanic song, despite claims by crazy groups.
