I am not a person who usually talks about their personal selves on this here forum, but today is a different tale.
I work at a warehouse about 25 or so minutes from home. I pick out parts, put it in a tote, and take it to the line where it gets shipped out to the store its assigned. Well, picking is where I ran into trouble today.
I was picking in an area where there is white boxes with brakes inside of them. The snorkers weigh about 10-15 pounds apiece. One of the boxes were un-closed so to speak, and the brake unit fell out of the box....
AND RIGHT ON MY GODDARNED TOE!!!
Kids, this is not any ordinary toe for yours truly. My big toe on the left foot had 5 surgeries on that toe (one whole removal of the nail, and one ingrown corner had 3 surgeries and a burnoff flask)and then this happened today. After doing appropriate medical procedure (like icing down and bandaging, not surgery again), I was told to go home early as just a procautionary measure. Though there was nothing I could do, I felt embarrassed, hurt, but more shocked than anything. I hope you guys can help me feel better, 'cause I'm feeling quite low right now.

Weren't you wearing steel-toed boots? I thought they were mandatory in warehouse/factory jobs.

I've had the same foot surgeries, and you should not be complaining about it. They are minor procedures, aside from the entire nail removal. I doubt this incident will have any effect on your toe, nail-wise.

Weren't you wearing steel-toed boots? I thought they were mandatory in warehouse/factory jobs. It's not mandatory, but my sneakers were quite fine. I had absolutely zilch in terms of problems, and this is the first time I've been hurt in 3 years of any job. From a 10 foot height, I don't think steel-toe boots would have helped, and that approximately how high the brake unit was.

They got steel toed sneakers that are pretty comfy. ...something to make you feel better though? Hmmm. I don't know, this makes ME laugh.
