Hello to all, and welcome to Wrestlecrap's first(?) Top Anime Character Countdown! This works just like any other countdown list, focusing solely on Japanese animation whose characters we have grown to like a lot, with some of us to point of slight obsession. Why anime, you ask? I'm not so sure myself, but someone had to do it (between Koda89 and myself, I got to post the thread first, hah!), and the anime community is a pretty normal fanbase. Long story short: pretty normal means pretty insane, so no worries! So we start off with the characters with the lowest score, slowly moving up in a semi day-to-day basis until we reach the top of Mount Fandom where I announce the anime character most liked by Wrestlecrap. As an extra feature I *might* add some videos along with the character that could show why they are a wrestle-crappers favorite. Mods, if I do something wrong please tell me ASAP so I could fix it. Well, let's wait a few more minutes before we start with... *coughs*... the characters who didn't make the list!

Before we start with the actual countdown, let's have a look at those who did not make the list. In a nutshell, they're the ones who got a .5 on the scores, and had no one else to vote for them: Rick Hunter/Hikaru Ichijyo from Robotech/Macross: Best pic I could find, sadly. Ryuk thinks that humans are interesting, but the wrestlecrappers aren't as interested to him: Fuu from Samurai Champloo, can't find a good pic of her either: Two people from Bleach; Kuchiki Rukia and Kurosaki Ichigo, kinda strange since they're the first two important characters in the show: Wufei from Gundam Wing: (spoiler: he's the only one from the five main pilots in Gundam Wing to not make it. So sad.) Minegishi Ayano from Lucky Star, kinda expected since she barely had any screen-time in the anime: Katsura Hinagiku from Hayate the Combat Butler doesn't make the list, but she brings you some cosplaying: Last, but not the least, at least among those at the bottom of the countdown, is Saya Otonashi: Up next: some clues on the first few on the list!

It's time for some clues, people. Well, to be honest (hopefully) I'll be posting the first entries in at least thirty minutes from now so you might not be able to guess them in time. Don't worry, next time you'll have a long time to guess~
::A Shinigami with a severe obsessive-compulsive disorder. ::A cat -- just add water. ::Clown pirate with detachable body pats. ::Her name is Lillian but the main characters don't call her that. ::Started off as a bandit but later became an ally. Also had a fear of women during his bandit days.

Okay, it's time to start this bastard! First, it's a four-way tie at 282th place! *Yes, 282, I made a mistake in counting the number of characters.* ::::::::::::::: #282-278* Hime from Kaibutsu Oujo--she is voiced by: Ayako KawasumiIntroducing herself as *Hime; her real name is Lillian though she dislikes being called that. At first glance, well, to be honest you'd most likely notice her in a crowded Japanese street. Her blonde hair and the gothic-style black dress that she's wearing isn't an indication of normal, eh? Well, it turns out that she's from a royal family -- the second princess to the king of all monsters, in fact. She has the ability called the flame of life, which enables her to revive other people to serve her. She's also quite skilled with weapons, with each episode showing her use a different weapon, such as a chainsaw, a katana, a baseball bat, and defibrillator. While her siblings are busy fighting each other for the throne, Hime seems quite uninterested about it. At the first episode she resurrects middle school student Hiro Hiroyimi on a whim when he dies after being hit by an iron pillar that fell. Hiro would later become Hime's servant, while assisting her in combat by acting as a human shield for her. ::::::::::::::: ~notes:Hime is Japanese for princess. Yes, I'm kinda updating at a snail's pace, but it's pretty hard thinking of what to write about them. And about the videos, like I said, I might post some, but if I can't find any good videos I'll just post an extra pic, okay?

#282-278 Symmetry! Death The Kid from Soul Eater--he is voiced by: Mamoru MiyanoOne of the three main characters in the anime/manga series Soul Eater. He is the son of the Shinigami, and known as Kid by friends and family. Notable features about him are the three white stripes in his hair, and the extreme case of obsessive-compulsive disorder that desires perfect symmetry which almost always dictates his body language. For example, he would often try to correct any flaw that he would see, such as a picture frame that's off by an inch. Anything that is asymmetrical in his eyes distracts and irritates him to no end, and any mention of the stripes in his hair would really push him off track. Death The Kid fights using a twisted version of gun-kata: holding two guns upside-down and firing with his pinkies. By the way, did I mention that the two guns Kid is using has a human form? Patty and Liz Thompson, who usually comfort/worsen Kid's attitude when he gets a little bit too obsessed with his desire for symmetry. First video, yay~ ::::::::::::::: ~notes:Gun-kata is a fictional fighting style involving guns. Watch Equilibrium to know more about it~

#282-278* Yamcha from Dragonball/Z/GT(cameo)--he is voiced by: Toru Furuya (original Japanese dub), Ted Cole (Ocean Group), and Christopher Sabat (Funimation)Yamcha is a character from the Dragon Ball universe created by Akira Toriyama, introduced first as a thief and started out as an antagonist of Goku but quickly reformed and became an ally. His character was based on the character Sha Wujing from the Chinese novel Journey to the West. Both characters had started out as bandits but would later reform to support to heroes on their quest. Yamcha enters the series early in Dragon Ball as a young bandit in a desert. He ambushes Goku, Bulma, and Oolong as they are traveling through his territory and attempts to rob them of their money and hoi poi capsules. He also becomes a student under Roshi and loses a long-held fear of women through his relationship with Bulma. Yamcha also enters the 21st, 22nd, and 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai along with Goku, but loses in the first round of each tournament, to Jackie Chun (Roshi), Tien Shinhan, and Shen (Kami) respectively. Though Yamcha is a skilled swordsman he is an exceptional martial artist. His signature technique is the Rogafūfūken, literally "Wolf Fang Wind Fist" (Wolf Fang Fist in the English dub), a quick flurry of punches and kicks. Yamcha uses the technique often during the Dragon Ball anime, though by Dragon Ball Z, he appears to have discarded its use. He has the ability to perform the Kamehameha, a concentrated beam of a chi energy blast that many other characters in the series have the ability to perform as well. Yamcha also uses the Sôkidan, literally "Spinning Ki Bullet" (Spirit Ball in the English dub), a technique that forms a ball of chi energy to assault an opponent with. Yamcha can fully control the ball, allowing it to home in on enemies and to go underground for a surprise attack. He also possesses superhuman strength, speed and reflexes. Like most characters in the series, Yamcha has the ability of flight, which he uses many times throughout the story. ::::::::::::::: ~notes: I would be most likely copy-pasting the info I find in other sites instead of writing my own. On the other hand I'll try to write my own insight about the character -- and I have to point out that I haven't watched a few of the anime here (such as Dragon Ball) thus preventing me to comment on them. I'll still post video clips, or an extra pic if I can't find a good video.

Cthulhu, I must say: so far, this list looks absolutely great. Attention to detail out of the wazoo! Keep it up! Thanks. It kinda feels like a kick to the nuts whenever I write down the character info, due to the fact that it takes a long time for me to find the right words to type in. Later on I'll be more or less copy-pasting the character info from other sites, though I'll try to add my own thoughts about the character. Of course, I might not be able to do that all the time -- I've watched most of the anime in the countdown, but a few elude me. At best I'll comment on their design, and I'll try my best to find a good video/pic of them. edit: whoops, I had already posted most of what I said on a previous post.

#282-278* Shampoo from Ranma 1/2--she is voiced by: Rei Sakuma (Japanese) and Cathy Weseluck (English)Shampoo is a character in Rumiko Takahashi's anime/manga series Ranma 1/2. She is also one of the several characters cursed spring Jusenkyo, which causes the the person who fell in the spring to transform into (usually) an animal when they come into contact with water. Note that the only way to return to his/her original form one must come into contact with hot water. In Shampoo's case she turns into a cat. In the anime, she meets Ranma (in his cursed form -- a girl) and his father Genma (also in his cursed form -- a panda) as they wander into a village of Joketsuzuku where Shampoo resides. Starving, father (panda) and son (girl) eat the first edible thing they could find: a feast which was supposed to be the first prize in a contest. Shampoo, the village champion, challenges the two to a fight, in which Ranma would easily win. Ranma was still in his female form at this point, and this made the situation for Ranma much worse, as Shampoo gave him the "kiss of death" which is basically a promise to hunt the recipient down and kill her. Ranma and his father manage to escape her, leaving China and returning to Japan to live with the Tendo family. Eventually Shampoo would find Ranma residing in the Tendo household -- except she found Ranma in his normal male form, thus causing Shampoo to not recognize him. However, she thinks that Akane Tendo (the youngest daughter to the Tendo family and Ranma's fiance) is hiding "female" Ranma and makes an attempt to kill her. Before she could do so Ranma blocked the attack from her weapon, and subsequently knocking her out cold with it as well. When she regains her consciousness, Shampoo realizes her loss and gives Ranma another kiss. This time, Ranma is in his male form, but the rules are different here -- just replace "kill her" with "marry him" and you'll get the idea. Eventually Shampoo would realize that male and female Ranma are not different people, and would return to China, heartbroken. Upon her return to her homeland, Shampoo would resume her training, which would soon lead her to Jusenkyo, the same spring that had cursed Ranma. There, during her training, she would fall in the Maonīchuan, which transforms her into a cat. She would realize that her curse is the same as Ranma's and she would go to Japan once more to try to marry Ranma -- though it becomes even more complicated as Ranma suffers from ailurophobia, a fear of cats. She would be joined by Cologne, her grandmother, and much later Mousse, whose love for her is generally one-sided. Watching the show, viewers might think that Shampoo isn't very bright due to her bad English, or Japanese if you're watching the fansubs/raws, but that's only because her native language is fluent in Chinese. Several points in the anime show her to be quite cunning, not to mention that she is extremely vengeful, and won't even hesitate to kill anyone who would stand in her way. ~notes:Shampoo: in kanji, the "San" in her name means stagger/loneliness, while "Pu" would mean unpolished gem, but the real pun is that she (and some of the people related to her in China) is named after beauty products. Joketsuzuku: roughly translates to tribe of women heroes/amazons. Maonīchuan: means spring of drowned cat. ::::::::::::::: Wow, writing that took longer than expected. I know I said I'd copy and paste, but this is (kinda) a habit of mine. Look on the bright side, you get more time to ponder who's in the top!

wow, wrestlecrap really likes its anime NO Dude, I just want to say that I had asked the mods to keep an eye on you, or at least in the anime thread. Forgive me for being a bit hasty here, but with the small amount of trouble you tried to stir up before I have to admit that I'm a bit suspicious on why you'd go all this way to say no.

#282-278* Buggy the Clown from One Piece--he is voiced by: Shigeru Chiba (original Japanese dub), David Willis (4kids English dub), and Mike McFarland (Funimation dub)Captain of the Buggy Pirates and former member of Gold Roger's crew, and is one of the first main antagonists to Luffy and his crew. During that time as a crew member he had stolen the Devil Fruit Bara Bara no Mi, hoping to sell the fruit as he was told of its high value. Unfortunately, long-time enemy Red-Haired Shanks accidentally caused him to eat the fruit, which in turn would give him the power of the Devil Fruit. The Bara Bara no Mi (translation: Chop Chop Fruit) gave him the ability to seperate his body parts from one another, as well as being able to control the parts individually from each other. Aside from his feet, his seperated body parts could fly through the air, with a force capable to send a man flying through a wall. This would also make him immune to any kind of cutting attack, as his body would just seperate themselves in the attack. However, the main flaw in his power is that he could feel the pain received from his seperated parts; for example, he felt the low blow Luffy dealt to him when his man body was seperated from his legs. The fruit has also robbed Buggy the ability to swim, causing Buggy to harbor a deep grudge to Shanks. Buggy would later form the Buggy Pirates, whose main weapon would be the Buggy Balls, cannonballs powerful enough to destroy an entire block. The big red nose on Buggy's face is in fact his real nose -- something that Buggy is quite sensitive about, going so far by destoying a village because a few children made fun of it. He's quite paranoid about it, in fact, as he would sometimes mishear what other people say and assume that they're talking about his nose. ::::::::::::::: ~notes:The pics were surprisingly hard to find. My apologies if the pic quality isn't as good as the others. I have a slight headache, so I'm going to sleep now, after I post the clues for the next batch.
