I'm thinking about getting Guitar Hero World Tour. Which system should I get it for?

I'd say Xbox 360. I always assume the Wii ones are a hassle because of the Wiimote and if you like to download new songs for your game you can't do that with the Wii.

Don't. The game isn't worth it.

Do you already have Rock Band?
If the answer is "no"...then get Rock Band instead.
If the answer is "yes"...buy Rock Band DLC instead.

Third Option: Rock Band (If you already have it than great).
GH:WT did not impress me, Tool is the only reason I would get it IMHO.

Do you already have Rock Band? If the answer is "no"...then get Rock Band instead. If the answer is "yes"...buy Rock Band DLC instead. This, though get Rock Band first, export the songs to the HDD for $5 (after an online update), and return it for a refund, then buy Rock Band 2. But if you absolutely must get Guitar Hero World Tour (like if you live in Europe or especially Australia), go with the 360 version. Hard drive > Wii's storage solutions. And you don't have to deal with plugging in the Wii remote either. Not sure about how WT's DLC/game features differ on the Wii compared to the 360, but I assume it's better on the 360 as that seems to be the trend with just about every third party game. Though really, if you have to get a post-Harmonix Guitar Hero, get Metallica. Outside of character creation and a few songs, Rock Band 2 does just about everything WT does, but better. GH:M is a much better effort overall.

Rock Band.
GH World Tour is already obsolete with GH Metallica and GH Smash Hits on the way. Not to mention GH 5 coming out in the fall along with GH Van Halen. Over on the GH forums, there are rumors of GH going back to the original guitar game and the band game will be Band Hero.

Yeah, this is the company that said they have to have franchises they can "exploit".

By that logic wouldn't it be pointless to make a band game in a series called GUITAR Hero, meaning just the guitar parts of a song? Personally, for me the Guitar Hero series officially ended after Guitar Hero III. Granted on the Wii you don't have as many options as say, the 360 or PS2, but still if I had a Wii, I'd get GH3 then get the disc for GH: Aerosmith(cause the game disc alone is f***ing cheap as hell), and I'd be set. I don't need this band game shit. Too many f***ing controllers. Give me a good guitar controller and one or two Guitar Hero game discs and I am good to go.

No, because despite the name, the guitars are still in the game and it opens up the series to more and more people. It also helps because that is what your competition is doing. The pointlessness in having two serieses is that both do the exact same thing, with one of the two games doing slightly more. It would be like a Baseball game company coming out with two serieses, one which let you as just the pitcher and one which let you play as whoever you wanted to, including the pitcher. On your second point, if all you want to do is play the Guitar's you can still buy World Tour. No one is forcing you to play with the drums or the mic. You can buy World Tour with just a Guitar or just the disc if you want.

You can buy World Tour with just a Guitar or just the disc if you want. But if you get a band game, everyone expects you to get the full band set, even if you could just play guitar. If it is just a guitar game, all you have to worry about is, at most, two guitar controllers. Nothing to worry about. But if you want multiplayer with a band game, everyone is going to want you to get the full band kit and then you'd have to store the drums and mic and such somewhere and it just becomes too much of a clutter. Then again, another reason I'd prefer the guitar only game on Wii is because I wouldn't have to deal with downloadable songs. Not saying they are a waste of money, they are just too addicting.....

What does what everyone else expects you to do have to do with what you want to and will do though? It's your game, and your enjoyment, not theirs.

But if you invite them to play/they want to play, they are going to want the full band. Honestly, if you say you have Rock Band and ask your friends if they want to play, but then say you only have two guitar controllers, well they aren't going to be happy campers.

The Wii version DOES have DLC for it. The list differs from the 360 and PS3 lists (unless theyve put the ones they were missing in there, I sold my copy since I'm out and out getting sick of both GH and RB), but there are downloadable songs AND the song creator including letting you download created songs over that. In fact, you can even save the songs to an SD card and stream them off there. Guitar Hero World Tour was the very first Wii game to allow that if I'm not mistaken.

I agree with the legions that say that you should get Rock Band first if you haven't already.
