Alright, fair enough, but I just know that a 50-year-old marrying an 8-year-old could be legal in Islamic law, I just can't really go into it on this forum because of the politics discussion ban. Oh, its absolutely legal by the laws of SA. I was never arguing that it wasn't legal. My problem is with the law itself not the legality of the mans action. Trust me, I'm an Arab, (not from the Kingdom though, thankfully) and even I am appalled by what goes on in there. It's like they're a few centuries behind the rest of the world in many areas. At least to me.

At least to me. Just to make it clear I have no problem with Muslims,or any of the people who live in the middle east. I feel nothing but sympathy for the people who have to live under oppressive regimes. I also can't say I blame many of the people living in the middle east for their feelings toward the west. Our hands are just as dirty as everyone else when it comes to helping make the region a muddled complicated mess.

I didn't say anything about Saudi Arabia, I said in Islam. Again, I can't really be more specific because of the forum we're on and this will probably be locked any second now.

The problem is that you really can't say things like "in Islam" people believe"blank" anymore then you can say "in Christianity" people believe "blank". Muslims just like Christians have ton of different denominations that believe many different interpretations of the Quran. Christians, and Muslims both have radical hard liners. The main difference is that we in the west do not harbor a political climate that allows the more radical groups to rise to the top of government. I'll stop there but if you want to finish this discussion, and get into specifics feel free to shoot me a PM.

Frank and Kid, I understand both of your stances, so no need to worry. Obviously the situation is too complicated for just one sample like this, and I'm too tired to try and untangle things, haha. And of course...Dave Meltzer, not talking about strange marriages on this week's podcast. Hell, RD REYNOLDS isn't going to talk about this on his fine radio progrem!
