Victoria is on BT first and her voice is out of character, full of charm and laughter, the same way she presented herself last time she was on the program while appearing on Raw as the Pet Coon’s wacky girlfriend. But she does remain somewhat in storyline mode, telling over how she snapped and lost control of her emotions when she attacked Christy Hemme a few weeks ago. “A little bit of crazy Victoria is coming back. I try to keep it bottled up, but you know what, I exploded.” But, hey, she did welcome the divas to Raw. “I’m trying to encourage some competition so maybe that has something to do with it.”
She was pleasantly surprised to see the man she started in WWE with, the Godfather, return for a quick visit to Vengeance. “A lot of memories came back, like ‘Look where I started.’”
As someone who has transitioned from being just eye candy into a full-fledge wrestling diva herself, Victoria knows what the non-wrestling newer divas must be going through. “It was tough,” she recalls starting out in WWE. “I’ll tell you, coming into the locker room back then, you’re not welcomed, you’re new, they don’t know anything about you. I think probably these new girls are experiencing that. They’re new girls, probably being judged by a lot of people. I was there, I was in their shoes. And I don’t want to judge, I want to see what they have. And a lot of the old wrestler back then, like Teri [Runnels], Chyna, Lita, Trish at the time, didn’t know that I was going to train in at a school in California and it took, when they finally saw me being put through a table by the Godfather, I think I got a little bit of respect. I certainly worked my butt off (Victoria’s ‘Butt’ counter: 001), I did everything I could to be what I am today. You do sacrifice a lot of time. No social life, you just eat, sleep, breathe wrestling. I love what I do, and I hope a lot of fans know that I have a lot of passion for this business, I really do, and I want to see the women’s division grow. We have some new talent out there coming up… [But, yea,] at the beginning it’s pretty tough, they do test you. I didn’t have any girls to train with in the school, I wrestled guys. Robert Conway was one of my trainers, and Eugene, I worked with Eugene in the ring. And just a lot of – Tracy Smothers, Regal – I trained with a lot of talented wrestlers.”
Host Steve Romero notes that the women’s division, with Trish Stratus and Lita out hurt, Victoria actually brought a little bit of life back into the women’s division by attacking Christy Hemme. Victoria agrees wholeheartedly and recalls the positive reception she got from the Canadian crowd the night she jumped the new divas. “Obviously, you can tell by the fan’s reaction when I couldn’t take it anymore. The fans wanted to see some action with the women, and to my surprise, I didn’t think that they were going to react like that. And after that I just got a lot of feedback, a lot of people are going, ‘Yes! We’ve got some action in the women’s division now,’ and ‘Yes! Bring it back, we want to see some girls wrestle and kick some butt.’ (Did someone say ‘Butt’ again? Butt counter: 002) And there’s going to be some new talent, also, from OVW. We have some girls training there, so I’m excited to see who is going to be brought up soon. I have not lost faith in the women’s division, I really think that we’re going to be huge again, kicking some butt, and proving that we aren’t just eye candy.”
Victoria actually has never been approached by Playboy yet, and guess what guys, she says, “I am definitely not against it. I am very proud of my physique, I’ve worked hard for my physique. But they would have to ask me at the time. Of course, you could say, ‘yes I definitely would do it,’ but I have to be approached and do it at the moment.” But as much as Christy did well for Playboy, “Heffner doesn’t know what he’s missing.”
