i remember someone a while back saying "buying out your competitors may make you feel better, but its often not the best thing to do for business". i honestly cant rememeber who said that but they hit the nail on the head.

He had to. It only cost like 2 million for everything. It wouldve been stupid not to.

I think his point is that once you're king of the mountain, you're bound to get sloppy and complacent. The guy has been quoted as saying he missed the Monday Night Wars, and it's no wonder. Competition creates innovation and hopefully a better product. Without it, you have nothing to drive you.

Everyone misses the Monday Night War. I do, the wrestlers do, the promoters do, everyone does. If you want to watch wrestling on TV, you have to watch WWE. Not only did you have a choice before, but you had them on air at the same time.

Uh, no, TNA is more of a localized product than you think.

A big problem is Vince's sudden urge to rely on hollywood writers heavily. I want someone that knows the product and audience to write the shows. Oh yeah stephanie mcmahon is a problem too.
Part of me wished that bischoff bought WCW and got it back on tv. He would have made it but they would have been like tna currently is.

Its not that Vince shoulda never bought WCW. WCW should have never gone out of biz.

^^^^No; WCW should of been sold to SFX for 500 milion dollars a year before Vince bought it. To this day I can blieve SFX was going to buy WCW for 500 million.

This may be a bad idea , but I'll say it anyway. Vince should put another show on another network to start an hour before Raw and end an hour earlier than Raw (like 8:00pm-10:00).

Nah, that would be a GREAT idea, especially if he were to branch out and actually USE the friggin WCW name and basically create his own competition. It would drive up ratings, allow even more talent to be utilized (and for Vince's sake, keep them off TNA/indy circuit), and improve his own image by simply allowing something like that to take place. If he's his own competition, he's only going to gain money. I keep harping on this idea but I know it'll never happen.

I totally agree. I've always wondered why Vince didn't just buy WCW and keep it on a cable network, even if it wasn't Turner. If he could've humbled himself enough to keep himself and his family members off of their shows, and left the on-air GM roles to Bischoff or someone else, he could've made some of the easiest money he's ever made. Therefore, other wrestlers would have a chance to shine in WWF's competition. He'd be his own competition, but he'd still be the benefactor to it all. I still don't know why he never did this with WCW or ECW. It could've saved the industry from the frump its in right now. Because I hate to say it, but I don't see American Gladia...I mean TNA posing that much competition for the WWE any time soon.

I'd say TNA is at least 5 years away from being major competition for WWE And that's only a positive estimate. I'll give them 10 years.

In a way it was stupid to buy WCW. With them gone he's basically the only major show in town and doesn't have to try so hard to bring in the fans now. Unless TNA becomes very successful and poses a real threat to him then he's going to continue bringing us the same thing.
