in backstage segments, are they supposed to be aware or not. the rock was having a back and forth with hurricane that was really funny, and the rock kept saying "stop laughing!" to the crowd. so is everyone oblivious to it, save for rock and hurricane?:)lol

Carlito seemed aware when he was talking to the camera after winning the IC Championship.
But then again, thats cuz he's cool.

I think they aren't "supposed" to be aware of camera presense. Like when Triple H and Flair were talking about H's "genius" plot to get Batista to Smackdown.

They need to get rid of backstage segments like that. If they show something like that it should be done with a "hidden camera" or a "security camera".

Good point. Sometimes they try to pretend like they don't see it, and sometimes they play to it.

The Rock is really the only guy who talk to the camera ALL THE TIME. The others just do it once in a while.

I think it's just one of those things. It's a convention that seems to work well for WWE. Ever since they came out as "sports entertainment", they have the luxury of giving up the idea of reality. They do that if and when it will advance their story. If the audience needs to know something that the wrestlers are doing, they'll show it to you. What good is a story if no one sees it?
I know, I know. You're going to tell me that WWE creative sucks and shouldn't do that... but look at "Family Guy". Stewie. Who hears him? When? It's not a science. Ditto for the original Saved By the Bell (Zack used to freeze the action and talk to the camera) or Malcom in the Middle. It doesn't NEED to make logical sense. It's a storytelling convention with some history. I say if it works... do it.
Rant...completed... Universe.... in harmony.

Actually, lately the other members of the family (besides Brian) seem to notice what Stewie is saying, and recently started talking back to him and it seems like they understand everything he's saying. And you think if Zack could just freeze time, he could have eliminate AC slater a lot earlier and devise much more ingenious plots to nail Kelly.

I remember when Mick Foley openly said that there were cameras backstage back when Los Conquistodores were around....he said something to the extent of..."we left the camera's running in your dressing room"

Sometimes the camera helps...otherwise....how would ya know what's going on in the world of the dubbya dubbya e? The whole backstage vignettes would be dead and you would be forced to watch matches without storlines behind them....and that wouldn't be fun.

Brian always hears and understands Everyone else either hears what he says and thinks its baby talk or they just ignore what he's actually saying.

I think it should be like Wayne's World. Like one time Hurricane will talk to the camera, and Rock'll come by and say "What do you think you're doing? Only Garth and I get to talk to the camera." Pan over to Garth.

We will know if they know the cameras are really there about the same time we find out who was responsible for G-TV
never
Does anyone else remember when Warrior (the real one) was in WCW and only Hogan could see him in the mirror? Well, Hogan & the entire arena and all those watching at home. I guess for me that is when the backstage segments sort of jumped the shark.
