Specifically Rock vs. Hogan. Now, as unpopular as it may be, I am an unapologetic Hogan mark. I can remember watching WM18 as it happened live with a bunch of friends, and we were like little kids when Hogan started Hulking up and reverting to the old Hogan during the match. Now, during the post match business when Hulk and Rock were fighting off Hall & Nash, then posing, they played Rock's music on a near continuous loop. Am I the only one who really wonders why they didn't have "Real American" instead?

I know you aren't watching on the anthology DVD (because I've heard your disdain for the blurring), so what you see and what I see might be different. But if I remember correctly didn't Hogan pose with no music playing? I remember expecting to hear Real American and getting nothing too.

No, I have the original 2002 DVD of it. During the post-match stuff they played Rock's theme at least three times.

I'd just imagine they didn't have it in the system. By all accounts Hogan's face turn was more of a spur of the moment thing so they just didn't have it.

That and the idea behind the match was for Hogan to put over The Rock (he sold that People's Elbow for ages by the way), so mostly playing his music while Hogan posed with him all helps in that regard.

well, when Hogan turned face, he didn't immediatly use "Real American", he used "Voodoo Child" at least until WM 19.

Well "Real American" had been being used not that long before by Patterson and Brisco, so fans watching at home, left over from the Attitude Era that had gotten into wrestling because it was the "cool thing" at the time probably would have been confused anyways.

I too wonder why he still used the Hendrix music with the red and yellow. But now that I know about WWe's nasty habit of letting music rights expire and not bothering to pay to have it on dvd's, they were probably trying to milk the hell out of whatever time they had left with Hendrix before the went back to Real American.
I mean, did the music rights just come with WCW or something? How did they even get it in the first place if Hendrix's estate had any problem with it or it cost so much? Could have just used the generic NWO music.

I still wonder why the nWo theme was dubbed over on Hogan's DVD

If I remember correctly, it was Hogan who insisted on using Voodoo Child during his 2002 face run, and it was him who paying for the rights to the music.

There's just something about seeing Hogan and hearing Real American that just makes everything right with the world.

Tell me what would have happened if Windham and Rotunda got the music like they were originally supposed to? That's not entirely true. Vince asked some dude to compose a song for them but upon hearing it decided it was too good. So while the song was commissioned with those two in mind the song itself was never intended for anyone else other than Hogan.

Picturing Hogan with any other theme is blasphemous to me. Hendrix was great when Hogan was a heel in WCW (same with the nWo theme) but as a red/yellow babyface in the WWF/E, it has to be Real American.
I am guessing they did not play it at WM 18 because it was a quick face turn, plus Hogan was pretty much a blend of Hulk and Hollywood by that time. But yes, the Toronto crowd would have exploded even more if Real American played.

I always wonder if this is where HHH's hatred towards Hogan stems from. Afterall this was supposed to be HIS defining PPV, above all others. The 8 months of rehab, the long drawn-out, dramatic home coming, the huge pop at MSG in January, the winning the title in front of nearly 70,000 people at Wrestlemania to become the Undespited World Wrestling Federation Champion, finally after years in the shadow of Rock and Austin, HHH would have the chance to become THE guy in WWE.
As it happened his match was TOTALLY outshaddowed at WM almost to the point where even as a viewer I felt uncomfortable watching a WWF title match have so little heat because of the burnt out crowd and the fact that he was forced to job to Hogan less than four weeks later.
That had to have hurt.

Of course, you don't let your biggest star get in the bath before the water is tested. They were just making sure it was safe and Hogan wouldn't scold his Hulka-wang. ...wait I'm getting confused here...

I was also annoyed with Rock´s music being played over and over.
Imagine they would´ve played "Real American" at some point after the match...the crowd would have exploded.
