Just because the movie got bad reviews doesn't mean the movie will be bad.
It's all about your preferences.

I've actually heard quite a lot of good reviews of this story wise due to the novelization being out already.

Eh, it's only out of 6 reviews. Not surprisingly, most negative reviews are about the directing, but what could you expect out of a guy named "McG" who willingly sells out the integrity of his work to make a few extra bucks for the studio. But hey, that's just me

The reviews are about the standard for summer blockbusters. The effects are good, the stories not bad but the character development lacks. Dark Knight aside, that's a pretty standard blockbuster review.
That being said, I don't understand why so many critics expected it to have the light heartedness found now and then in the others. It's about post Apocolyptic US. It's not gonna have any happy go lucky protaganists.
I'm still excited for it

Went to a preview screening tonight and this movie suuuuuucked. While avoiding spoilers, there was A LOT of awful CGI and acting to the point where people were cracking up at times when they shouldn't have been in the theater. The first 2/3 of the movie moved slow as hell as well

That whole movie is defined by the outtakes.

Basically is right in line with the reviews I thought it would get, though this is not what I call a "critics movie". I'm not one to say that critics are wrong like a lot of people, as many times I agree with them, it's just that many times for movies like this it's just not something that is down their ally.
That said that is horrible so far but it is just out of 7 reviews, plus I'm still looking foward to this. I don't expect it to be T2, I just want an entertaining Terminator movie.

I was really excited for this movie until I learned that FOX cancelled the Sarah Connor Chronicles today. That was the best part of this franchise in my opinion and now I'm just totally pissed off at the whole franchise and probably won't even go see this movie. I'll find a way to watch it for free of course, but will be damned if I give those bastards my money.

I tend to go with the fans ratings, and on IMDb it's rated 8.7 with almost 2,000 votes. So yeah, I'll still see it. Although I'm looking more forward to the Director's Cut Blu-Ray.

Am I the only guy that goes to a Terminator movie for explosions and killing rather then compelling acting and storyline?
Actually, that's with a lot of Summer movies. I want to see action... and a storyline that at least is not insulting the intelligence of a 10 year old.
