I think Mrs. Belding is trapped in the school elevator. As long as she doesn't go into labor, everything will be fine. But today is my day in the Belding baby pool.

The earthquake was actually pretty benign where I live. The ground moved in a wavy pattern and not necessarily a violent shaking pattern as usually happens. Regardless, I was moderately alarmed, but nothing too terrifying.

Those are the ones that usually break things.

Although I've been reading about the quake for the past two hours, it only hit me now that it was what made my car shake. I was driving to pick up some food when I stopped at a light, when my car started shaking. I checked if it was windy out, since I have a small car that is easly moved by wind. But nothing, so I was worried that something was wrong with my car.
Glad to know there isn't.

I was at LAX waiting to pick someone up when it happened. The earthquake was right undernearth me. I was just sitting in my vehicle and all of a sudden there was shaking. By the time I figured what it was, it was already over. I thought it might have been a strong wind gust or those no good teenagers shaking my van. But I put it together quickly. I was safe and didn't think it was as big as it was. There wasn't really any damage at LAX, which is really good considering the epicenter of the quake was only right under the airport

I live in Santa Barbara, and I didn't feel an earthquake. Where was it centered?

1.5 miles southeast of Inglewood is what I heard. I was half asleep and I got jolted awake. Personally, I just think the state is celebrating the Lakers win over the Rockets.

We got a good solid jolt and a bang here in Torrance. It only lasted a few seconds and other than a few pictures falling over and one knicknack that fell off a shelf and broke, we had no damage.

The early reports I heard on the radio this morning mentioned.....for some reason....."lots of plates and glasses falling from cabinets" as if it was noteworthy damage or something.
I mean, it's great news that it wasn't a 10.0 and the whole West Coast didn't break away and sink into the Pacific, but just seems.........kinda random to specifically mention broken flatware and kitchen devices in the news report.

I love how desparate the people in the newsroom get when BIG news just doesn't happen. The local news had a breaking news bulletin from Skyfox flying over Long Beach. There was a business boarding up the front window of his store because the window broke. Two police cars were parked nearby. "Was there looting?" asked the newscaster. "No," replied the helicopter. "I think the police are just sitting there. We don't see anybody on the street at all." "How about the traffic?" the newscaster tries. "Are the traffic lights all working? Is there a lot of traffic?" "No," answers the helicopter. "We can see about four miles in every direction and we don't see any lights out. There isn't a whole lot of traffic out but it all seems to be moving pretty well."
*snicker*

I particularly like it when one news station asked for pics of damage and they showed some glassware that had fallen behind someone's TV. Yeah, that's newsworthy.
