It's soo hard to have to pick between these two movies, but I really agree with NC one one major thing... Keaton... is... The Batman! Gonna have to agree with this as well. I like Bale, but Keaton is and will always be Bruce Wayne AND Batman to me.

I didn't like Batman Begins at all. I LOVED Dark Knight, and LOVE Batman as well as Batman Returns. Batman Begins is lower on the pole than Batman and Robin for me, as at least that one had Alicia Silverstone. Although, for some reason, her suit didn't have Bat Nipples. Meat, bro, I respect you and your opinions... but you just made me throw up. Also, I want to say this... I do agree that Keaton played a better Batman, but I think Bale played a better Bruce Wayne. Keaton's Wayne was pretty much Batman without the suit. He was always just staring at the wall and brooding. Bale actually seemed like a playboy to me. Wasn't that the point of the Batman character? You never get to see much of Bruce Wayne in comic and cartoon. And from what you see, As batman, You don't see any difference. No, Bruce Wayne has a distinct personality of his own. You see plenty of it in the comics and cartoons. I'm talking about when he's in Bruce Wayne mode (like at public functions), not just when he's Batman but not in his suit (like when he's in the cave).

The Dark Knight takes it in near every aspect, from the performances, plot, characterization, style, themes, dedication to lore, etc.
I say that as someone who loves 89 Batman and Returns. But even so it's no contest for me.

I have an odd feeling the Critic will pick old version more often than not.

Sadly I could only agree with the NC on a few things.
The Dark Knight did everything better than Batman.
- Bale is the better Batman. - Ledger is the better Joker. - TDK had the better supporting cast(and better actors). - TDK had the better action. - TDK had the better story. - TDK was just overall way better.
Now, this does not mean I hate 89 Batman. I love it, just, TDK kicks the shit out of it.

It was sweet looking, but the Batmobile in Batman Begins and TDK not only looked cool, but it had multiple functions, and even better, it is more possible for the BB/TDK Batmobile to be made than any other version.

True, but I still liked the styling on the 89 version better That said, most Batman movies don't have the balls to trash the Batmobile in its 2nd scene, which means TDK wins yet again for sheer daring. Has there ever been a better version of Lieutenant/Commissioner Gordon than there was in Begins/TDK? I don't think so.

89 Batman, I felt, was a better Batman movie, while TDK was just an overall better MOVIE. I love both for different reasons, but TDK slightly wins out for me.

It looked like crap! The tumbler was just WAY overkill. I think the one Batmobile from the 1989 movie and the animated series are by far the better looking Batmobiles. Hell, even the Batmobile from the 60s TV series look better than that piece of junk from the newer movies. And the 60s batmobile kicks f***ing ass!

I wouldn't be caught dead driving that thing, it looks like escaped from Willy Wonka's factory. 1960s Batman has to be one of the most overrated TV shows ever made.

The Tumbler makes the most sense. I mean Batman IS going to need to protect himself, so what is better than an, in all intents and purposes, all-terrain TANK? And again, since it is the only practical one, it has the highest chances of being real.

Who cares about reality in a story about a guy in a batsuit fighting a clown?

Who cares about reality in a story about a guy in a batsuit fighting a clown? Because the Batman franchise has always been one of the more plausible franchises of actually happening?

Uh... no? Batman is pretty out there.

Because the Batman franchise has always been one of the more plausible franchises of actually happening? Not since the 1940's. I've yet to ever even come close to meeting a billionaire playboy that knows 120+ martial arts styles. Of the three longest running franchises in American comic history (two being Supes and Bats), Archie is light-years ahead of Batman as far as plausibility is concerned. When you actually take the time to look over Batman;s history, from fighting aliens in the 50's winning a staring contest with Darksied a few years ago, the Batman franchise is really no more plausible then Superman.

Uh... no? Batman is pretty out there. If you ONLY look at the basic set-up (man trains to fight crime; does) he's plausible, but when you read over his history and see him fighting giant star monsters with the JLA; thats when it goes waaay off the rails.

Well of course it is still out there, but out of the super hero comics, it is the most plausible. Certainly more plausible than Superman, Green Lantern, Flash, Spider-Man, Thor, Hulk, Captain America, etc.
