See, this is the kind of thing they used to do. Put a midcarder against a main eventer on free TV. Have them wrestle their best and look credible. Instead of constant main eventer vs main eventer, rendering the PPV matchups stale. It just seems so simple to do so why aren't they doing it?

Very underrated match, one of my favourites from that year actually. That Rock Bottom counter was fantastic, I remember being wowed at how smooth and effortless it looked. Truly a forgotten gem. God, I miss Eddie Guerrero.

Two of my most favorite wrestlers ever. Watching it again, it irritates me not only because one's dead and the other's retired, but also that the match isn't 10 minutes longer.

They still put mid carders against main eventers but it's always a squash now.

Excellent match. I too would love to have seen a feud between these two.

Thanks for posting Bubble Lead. What a fantastic match. Which brings back great memories.
The Rock really, IMHO, helped make Eddie a future top star in the E that night. Rocky did for Eddie much the same thing that Flair did for Sting. Rock was at the top of his game, and didn't need to do anything for anyone. Yet he was willing to make Eddie (a WWE mid-carder at the time) look like a million bucks against him in the ring. Making Eddie appear to be a major threat to the great one in the process.

Eddie would have made a great heel World Champion one day. The guy just oozed charisma. RIP.
The Rock is great at making Eddie look like a million bucks.

The Rock was always happy to make any opponent look like a million bucks. One of the few wrestlers who, in his prime, never seemed to worry about his spot, or his ego. Top quality match, between two top quality performers.

I remember most is that Eddie said he ripped the posters of Rock from his kids wall and Rock told him he was crazy.

I can't choose which one I love watching more. Shame you rarely see stuff like this anymore in the WWE, and I'm not normally one for nostalgia.

To be fair most midcarders aren't Eddie Guerreros, well travelled craftsman. As cliched as it sounds a good portion of the mid-under card are too green to really be featured on TV. I agree it should happen more often but there's really only a handful of guys that could pull it off.

The only thing I remembered about that match was the Rock Bottom counter which I thought it was cool.
