Anyone else love these shows? From really fat people, to midgets, to a guy who's half a tree, to people who pop out way, way too many kids, I love these shows.

I don't know. I could have gone my entire life without ever seeing "Trash Bag of Skin".

I'll watch them occasionally out of sheer morbid curiosity.

I don't think I learn much by watching what used to be called "The Learning Channel."
Seriously, all their programming is divided into about three or four different blocks...there's the midget shows, the wedding shows, the gigantic family shows. I'm thinking my fiancee needs to take a bunch of fertility drugs and then we have 18 kids or something...then bingo, instant TLC paycheck.

I prefer Maury Povich's annual parade of freaks episodes. You get a nice cross section of weird.

I used to love TLC when it was The Learning Channel. There was all kinds of great shows about science and mechanics, etc.
Now it really is a glorified sideshow. It's sad. Whoever thinks society has moved past thinking of people as freaks is wrong. There may not be sideshows at the carnival anymore, but there's still TLC.

So all the home-decorating crap has fizzled out now?

So all the home-decorating crap has fizzled out now? There's still some of it, but they've been steadily shifting to shows about midgets, the morbibly obese, and snorkups with huge families over the last couple of years.

I loved the one about the guy who's arms exploded. Elaborate He did a ridiculous amount of steroids and, if I remember correctly, at some point used an old, infected needle, which resulted in his arms "exploding" when they became infected.

The special is on YouTube. It goes into a bunch of nonsense about male body issues and steroids, but the freakish stuff is there.

I always get a little annoyed when I see the 8000 pound man on the channel guide.

Same here. I can related to the trapped people. I feel like I'm in prison. I enjoy TLC and Discovery Health programs. Brookhaven was my favorite show. I LOVE seeing people change their lives from a realistic POV, not a "everything's happy now" one. But the stories just inspire me to live.
