So, I just beat X-Men Origins: Wolverine on 360. (And in case you're curious, the movie version of Deadpool is just as pathetic a final boss as you'd expect him to be.)
That was the first time I'd actually "seen" the movie version of Deadpool, since I haven't actually seen the film yet. (And by "seen", I mean outside of the random promotional stuff that was all over the internet bitching about it before the movie came out.) And just like everyone else, I absolutely HATED it.
Well, most of it. There was one thing I liked: the blades.
The optic blasts don't work, the teleportation don't work, and the appearance doesn't work at all. But honestly, I thought the blades were a pretty damn good idea.
At the end of the day, just like Sabretooth and Wild Child and Daken and however many other ones I'm forgetting, Deadpool is and always was intended to be nothing more than a poor man's Wolverine. (Don't get me wrong, I love Deadpool. I say that speaking from the perspective of the guys who made him.) So, giving him "claws", so to speak, was a good move in my book.
Am I the only one who'd like to see the arm-blades introduced in the comics?

Deadpool is NOT a poor man's wolverine. He is actually a parody of Deathstroke, he started off as a rip off and moved on to a parody but that's neither here nor there.
Though I will concede both are f***ing awesome.

You're not alone in liking the blades; I liked them too.
Of course, I liked the entire character...

And the only reason they did that was because Wolverine bolted, so they tried to make a new one. Hence, poor man's Wolverine.

Seeing as I recall them saying that all of those things on DP in the film were not permanent and Ryan Reynolds is apparently going to play the character in a spin off movie I think I'm satisfied.
...uh, what was the question?
Oh, arm blades. In general they're cool, just not on Deadpool when they could have just as well substituted any generic mutant in at that point with the same look, powers, and all. Oh well, at least it'll excuse his scarred visage in the next movie if that happens. To their credit, that is kind of how he got his healing factor in the comics apparently.

Just for reference, you guys know that Reynolds said in an interview that they're starting from scratch with the Deadpool movie. It will have no continuity with X-Men Origins.

The Weapon X program designed him to be a poor man's Wolverine, but the character itself as created by Fabian Nicieza and Rob Liefeld was never intended to be a poor man's Wolverine. He has a completely different personality and look than Logan, and that more than does enough to set him apart. Also, just because I can never say it enough, Barakapool sucked. I refused to pay money to see X-Men Origins, and have gone out of my way to avoid all it's extra promotions. I won't even buy things like cereal or potato chips if I see a promotion for that movie on the packaging.

I played the game, and the first thing that popped into my head when I saw the blades were:
"Those long blade cannot fit into those short arms."
Also, they were screwing with everyone with that "So much for the Merc with a Mouth" line.

If I was going to describe the character in general instead of just his origins by comparing him to another character, I'd call him a psychotic half Spider-Man/half Punisher. I know I'm going to hate "Deadpool" when I do see the movie, but I really don't think that boycotting a movie because of one character makes a lot of sense.

It may not make sense, but it made me feel better. I'm just glad knowing that I didn't give Fox a dime after what they did to one of my favorite characters.

What Deadpool are you talking about? I only remember Baraka in that movie. Weren't you boycotting it? I still haven't seen the movie, and I'm not going to, if that's what you mean. I know how Deadpool looks though from online, the trailers and the video game. I've never had one character effect me on a comic book movie like this before, but I think you guys can understand me on this one. Even if you like the character or not, like Emoticon, I think most know why I personally am not happy. I just like Deadpool to much to see that.
