Whenever somebody complains about Raw or the WWE product in general the first counterpoint I always see is "Well then don't watch it," which while I suppose a fair suggestion, is pretty much shutting down all debate about the topic at hand. Don't get me wrong, I use it all the time too, but I was just wondering is it ever okay to just complain about something that you watch?

the only time where i use the don't watch thing is where the person seems to find absolutely no enjoyment in it at all.
your allowed to complain about the product... but saying "this sucks" "that sucked" "this is going to suck" is stupid and isn't constructive at all... honestly if your being so down... why watch when its only gonna disappoint?
basically the only time i say "don't watch" is when the other person has basically only said it sucked. no reason why, just saying everything sucked without posting an explanation, or a way it could've been better

When you paid for the product, such as a PPV or DVD.
When you're watching a cable show, you invested nothing but your time into the product. So if you don't like it, simply change the channel, or deal with it.
Accept the fact that you will never agree 100% of the time with the booking, and stop nitpicking every little thing. This is pro wrestling, not art. Every era of wrestling has it's good and bad. Just turn off your brain, and have fun watching.

I think there is lots of room to complain. I complain about the product all the time. I keep watching it because I really, really like wrestling. Even bad wrestling is better than no wrestling for me. If your favorite food is fettucini alfredo, you shouldn't swear off of it forever just because you get a bad bowl. It's okay to wish for a higher quality serving of pasta.

Of course it's fine to complain, it's just not right to expect that WWE should cater solely to your tastes, especially if you don't contribute much to their revenue.

People can complain all they want.
I normally only pay attention when they actually make an argument for their complaint.
Examples:
John Cena Sucks! (Bad argument) I find Cena boring. (Hey, at least you told us why. )
OMG I'm so sick of Batista title shots! (Bad argument) I believe Batista uses his Title Shot Cheat Code too often. Let somebody else in from time to time. (At least we know why you dislike him)
Good arguments are fun to read and at least give us an insight into what you find wrong.
But when somebody just posts "RAW sucks" then you just reply with the equally vapid "Then don't watch" response.

When buying a PPV. With DVDs, I think you're either buying it because you saw it before, enjoyed it and want it for keeps, or you've done your research and know what's on disc. There may be some exceptions, for instance the content listing on some DVD tributes might sound good, but be badly put together.
Generally though, as far as RAW, SD and ECW go, I would say we always have the right to critique. I would still watch WWE tv if it wasn't very good, because there wouldn't be an alternative to to fill the big stage wrestling gap in my life. TNA? Don't start. So it's not a case of 'if you don't like it, don't watch it' because most of us will tune in week after week in the hope that the next show will be better. Also, a forum like this is full of people (including me) who have their own ideas about how they'd like to see things go down, so anything that doesn't live up to expectations (Jericho v Legends anyone?) is likely to get crapped on.

Well, this is a forum that supposedly for conversation about wrestling. I'd say complaining about what you don't like is fair game. At the same time, turning it into constant whining means you really ought to find something else to spend your time watching.

If you don't get any enjoyment at all in something, it's probably best to move on.
If you don't watch what you're constantly complaining about, it's probably best to move on.
Other than that, it's all fair game.

If no one ever complained about anything, we wouldn't have much of a discussion forum here.
Every post would be the equivilent of peppermints and sunbeams. Our posts would consist of John Cena frolicking in a meadow full of tulips with all the smiling woodland creatures while being smiled down upon by the Referee Batistia Sun.

I'd pay for this photoshop..... On topic, I moved here from two other boards where the competition is to see who hates WWE or TNA more than the other. They crap on the product no matter what, so yes, I usually say "then why ARE you watching?" which the usual response is "habit". Judging from their responses, if I hated wrestling as much as they did it's a habit I'd be ready to break. It was said you should move on if it's "This is going to suck", "this sucks", "that royally sucked". I agree. I find it maddening, too, when I hear "I didn't watch the show, but I bet it sucked." Sorry, if you didn't see the show you have ZERO right to complain about it. I don't complain about other sports because I don't watch them. Oh, and I was an NFL "lifer" up til about 7-8 years ago when they started talking nine-figure salaries and too many of them getting in trouble with the law. I walked away. See? was that so hard? ETA: The answer is yes, we have the right to complain, critique and fantasy book, but if you aren't finding anything good about the show, you shouldn't be watching.

If its constructive criticism, then complain away. I'm not generally one to moan about something I didn't like, but instead focus on the aspects of the product that I enjoy.

This is pro wrestling, not art. Yes, actually, it IS art. Pro wrestling is indeed an art. And art is subjective. Which is why fans are often too harsh in nitpicking about "suspending disbelief"- which shouldn't really be a criteria as far as judging wrestling.

Constructive criticism by paying customers and/or by people who actually watch the product trying to enjoy it. That's fine with me.
But the following categories have NO RIGHT to complain:
* Pseudo-fans who'll criticize anything just for the sake of it * Fans who crap all over an angle BEFORE it's even started, or after one-two segments * Anti-fans * Those who don't actually watch, but decide it sucked after reading a report.

I'm sure I don't stick to this 100% of the time but if I complain I at least try to do it in a joking manner so as not to take it too seriously. But I don't think it matters if your complaint is about something you paid for or free tv. Think of the context, this is a wrestling forum where people discuss wrestling, if you've got a complaint it's appropriate. You make your point, get it off your chest, and hopefully move on. Now on the other hand if you're firing off angry letters to Stamford every Monday and Friday night, you might need to get some perspective. Besides, if you don't like my complaint thread, then click on another topic.
