i was browsing wf.com and saw this in someones siggy
If the love triangle didnt happen, would she be the 7 time womens champ, the benchmark/gold standard for all womens wrestlers? or would trish still be the womens wrestling icon?
there are lot of factors to take into consideration- so think before you answer

She would probably eventually have her ho'ness thrown into the actual Legacy angle to convince the audiences that Cody, Ted, and Randy don't want each others man meat. Throwing in a female with the rep of the village bicycle----we all had a ride, it would help offset the overtones of three guys constantly oiled in tight little underpants in--and out of the ring.

I stumbled across Rebellion 2001 today and decided to watch it and during her match had the same thought. Molly, Stacy and Torrie all came out to some moderate clapping and there was a huge pop from the crowd when Lita came out. I think Lita's neck injury came at a HORRIBLE time since her first year Stephanie McMahon was Women's champ nearly the whole time for storyline purposes, the next year the title was deactivated nearly the whole year and then Lita suffered her injury. When she came back I felt like a lot of her momentum was gone and she really didn't get put back into the title scene until right before word got out about the love triangle. If it hadn't had happened I think Lita might have just fizzled away which might have been better than the send off she ended up getting. Her being with Edge was my favorite time period of hers anyways, if Raw sucked at least you got to look forward to whatever she was wearing that night.

That was a serious reply---be used as the token female to convince audiences Legacy isn't actually gay

Shame that I re-started watching wrestling too late to see Lita in her prime, but I rather liked her. I could imagine her reaching to Trish Stratus-heights. I also think she deserved a better sendoff than Cryme Time selling her undies.
And Legacy really should have Natalya Neidhart on their side.

I'm sure she would have got the exit Trish got, or something close to.

She never would have deposed Trish, who was pretty much their golden girl. As to where she'd be if she didn't have to wear the scarlet letter, I honestly think that she'd still be with the company. I'd like to think that she'd be working in a role similar to Sherri where she'd be a manager for up and coming talent.

She was one of the most popular divas and gifted female wrestlers of all time. Even though I have a feeling she was only really popular because she was part of Team Xtreme.

Even with the Edge/Matt Hardy controversy, nobody can take away the legacy Lita had. Her, Trish and to a lesser extent, Chyna were all treated like royalty by the WWE. In a business where women are apparently given less opportunities they'll easily go down as the two women who made most impact on US mainstream wrestling this decade.
I think if she didn't shatter her knee at New Years Revolution 2005, Lita would have continued to feud with Trish, and then maybe Victoria. But at that time WWE had just fired a good number of their female wrestlers. So perhaps the heel turn came as a blessing. While I felt sorry for her because of the harassment she faced, her onscreen character thrived. We'd never seen that side of her, and her face act had run its course.
Her send off in 2006 was just horrible to watch. Thankfully they brought her back to a better response at the RAW 15th Anniversary show. Even after everything that happened, Lita still has quite a substantial fanbase so that's good to know.

IMO lita was so- so as a wrestler, take the 2 high flying moves away she was an average wrestler, what she was doing may have been new to US wrestling fans but was being done many times over by none-WWE wrestlers

To this day I will still claim Lita had more girls inspired to be wrestlers then most any of the Divas you can name. Chyna is an exception, because she did some rather exceptional things considering the time period. Lita was doing moves that hardly any woman watching at the time had seen. She was a massive inspiration for many, myself included. I cannot bring myself, to this very day, to watch her original send off with the thought that Stratus got to retire with the f***ing belt. I'm glad her second "real" send off was much more appropriate and befitting a woman who did and gave so much to the business.

I dont even think the 15th anniversay segment was even a send off- i do agree that she did inspire girls because she was your average girl next door compared to the other girls who were on the roster at the time
Question so what is Trish stratus' legacy? aside from being 7 time womens champ how did she revolutionize womens wrestling

I'm not sure what Trish 'revolutionised' as such (or Lita for that matter). Her remarkable achievement is how she was brought in largely for being hot and eye candy, but long hours of hard work and training put her at the forefront of the women's division. With Trish you'd always be guaranteed a good match. She improved dramatically in 2002. Had some really good matches with Jazz, Victoria, Molly Holly, and of course that main event on RAW against Lita. When she came back from injury in 2005, what was more remarkable is that she came back looking better than before.
I mean Sable was there as eye candy, but she apparently refused to take bumps and was never much of a wrestler. But Trish obviously loved what she was doing and busted her ass so many times.
After Trish a number of the women from the Diva Search and elsewhere have been in wrestling training. While some of them are still quite debateable some have done quite well. McCool, while many don't like her, has made the most progress in the ring. Kelly Kelly seems to be getting better each time she steps in the ring.

A bit forced, IMO, but nonetheless better at the end of her run than the beginning. And no, she didn't revolutionize women's wrestling, but she moved merch by the ton, which is extremely rare for a woman. To answer the OP, she would have gotten a proper sendoff, maybe. Or she would have just been released to little to no fanfare. The same way Edge's heel turn has pretty much catipulted him into the ME scene is the same way that Lita being branded the whore of WWE (sorry for the language) helped her keep a spot despite the fact that she wasn't as over as she was during her Litacarana and Team Xtreme days.

I don't think Lita would have been released, considering that she was still very popular up till the point the revelations about her and Edge were made.
She retired I think because she was upset about the abuse she received. Plus she really had nothing more to prove as she had a good, full career in the WWE.

It's a real shame actually.
One thing I wish WWE did before Lita left was turn her babyface. Basically, make it like Edge manipulated her, and said the right things to get him to cheat, and build to showing Edge as being somewhat abusive. Like, maybe Edge smacks her, but you can tell right off the bat Edge feels really bad. Edge apoligizes, and they get back together, doing all the stuff they do, and slowly build with certain things to a break up, where Edge would say that he just used her, he said all the things she wanted to hear because she was lonely on the road, to get the sympathy card in her favour.
