What bothers me so much about this show is, well, I guess a couple of things. First off, child exploitation. It could've been interesting as a simple documentary on life with such an abundance of kids, but I don't want to know what kind of therapy bills these kids are going to have later in life.
The bigger factor, though, is that it disturbs the hell out of me how fascinated people are in getting to watch a marriage disintegrate. Why else did 10 million friggin' people tune into the premier of this thing? Why are we so obsessed with schadenfreude in this country?!

I detest pretty much any and all reality TV, but shows like this one take the cake for me, because the kids are the ones who are going to be the true victims later in life.

^^^^^That's the thing. It's the the one thing people can't overcome. How to do the opposite of what ruins them. Cause that's no fun.

I'd like to think some people tuned into that first episode this year to see what was going on (was it filmed when this stuff went down? Was it filmed when things were good?). Does anyone know what the ratings were like prior to all of this?

It boggles my mind how much attention you are giving this if you hate it so much. Your sharing of the YouTube video and talking about the show is contributing to its pop cultural ubiquity. You're contributing to the popularity/notoriety of the show and helping people watch it and thus stay on the air. Flawed logic. You can't blame reaction to over saturation on the initial over saturation.

I think I know the source of the tension: That would explain it. Jon & Kate+Batista for the win!

I think I know the source of the tension: Well, someone called Kate a 'Diva' and Batista just couldn't help himself...

Are these people famous for any reason other than this dude's sperm working REALLY good? That can't be it or Peter North would be a mega celebrity by now. I know not the same kind of thing.

I got hornswoggled into watching this show with my girlfriend the day I graduated (it paid off huge) and the whole time I thought "Wow, Kate is an awful, awful person."

Have to revive thread due to this news coming out: abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/story?id=7861779&page=1So now she's even MORE of a heel because she disciplines her children through SPANKING! Oh and her and Jon beat their dogs too. My God...if half of what the media says she does is true, she's like Cruella De Vil and Monty Burns rolled into one.
