theres a few reasons; firstly, because people like to think they know what goes on backstage and like to flex their 'knowledge' to others You can say the same about politics, music, movies and any other subject where people pursue extensive knowledge beyond what's official. What makes you think they aren't? Now, if Meltzer was the gossip mongerer you claim, WWE would have sued him a hundred times over, and he'd be regarded as a joke in the industry. He's never been sued, and even guys like Foley, Bret Hart, Jericho and J.R have praised him. Don't forget that Vince McMahon is known to read the Observer. Going off-topic, Kent Jones>>>>>>>>>>>> CenaMark!

He's never been sued, and even guys like Foley, Bret Hart, Jericho and J.R have praised him. you brought up this point last time we went down this road but you never responded to my retort, so here it goes again, there are countless tabloids in existence that put out baseless rumors on an even more regular basis than the observer and they very rarely get sued if they know how to word things and cover their asses properly, and most of the law suits (although usually unsuccessful) are about things that could potentially ruin lives or careers, do you really think someone is going to sue meltzer for saying theyre a jerk backstage or that theyre contemplating retirement or something minor like that? and of course bret praises him when meltzer and most other sheet writers treat bret like a sacred cow, his word means nothing to me anyway, and jr and (to a lesser extent these last few years) foley are a couple of guys who cant say a negative thing about their worst enemy even if they tried, no explanation about jericho though, i found it hilarious when i saw in jerichos book that he thanked meltz for the "fact checking" help, i didnt know he knew how to deal with facts

because people want to believe rumors as long as they paint a wrestler they dislike in a bad light.
I put more input on the blogs of wrestlers dispelling rumors. Which is mostly hearsay.
Meltzer and Alvarez are Perez Hilton or those people on TMZ. they are the equivalent of gossip magazines, because that's what they report. Gossip, hearsay, and all that.
I never let their "newz" affect my opinions.

because people want to believe rumors as long as they paint a wrestler they dislike in a bad light. By that same token, people don't want to believe anything that paints a wrestler they do like in a bad way. The best lies have some element of truth in them, and, honestly, anyone that's watched a product for long enough (be it wrestling or a dramatic series) can learn the tells and "call the spots" since every show goes back to the well.
