No, I'm not starting a whole thread to this milestone. I need your help, and I'm thrilled that my 3,000th post is asking for help from you guys. Here's the deal... Next Tuesday (May 5th) I am taking my 2 year old nephew to the SmackDown taping in Pittsburgh. I have never been to a tv taping, and I haven't been to a WWF/E show since I was a kid. So help me out, guys. What is the best time to get there? What is the best way to get some pics and autographs? What are the merchandise stands like and what are the basic price ranges for everything. I really want to get an Orton shirt and get him a shirt and a Mysterio mask. I know it's loud, but how bad is everything? I'm getting him some foam ear plugs anyways. What all happens at these tapings that I should expect? I heard that the wrestlers stay at The Marriott right by the arena, so would that be a good place to check out before or after the show? What about before and after the show at the arena? Do the guys try and stop for the fans? For those in the Pittsburgh area, what have you done to make it a great experience? I am more excited than he is right now, and I really want him to have a kickass time. So help me out, not just for me, but for a 2 year old who is definately on his way to being a lifelong fan and future poster on here, just like his uncle. Thanks a million for any information you can give me. Feel free to answer my questions and give me any advice you think I could use.

I showed up a little early at a Smackdown house show once and walked around to the back where the wrestlers drive into the arena in their rental cars. There was a decent little crowd of fans hanging out around there watching the wrestlers pull in. Anyway, eventually a few wrestlers came out (Kidman, Torrie, Rico, Cena, a couple others I forget) and signed autographs and posed for pictures. That's the best advice I can give...show up early and have fun.

So help me out, guys. What is the best time to get there? Unless you like lines, I'd walk up a half hour before the scheduled start. Otherwise plan on doors opening about 75 minutes before your ticket says the start is. I don't really seek autographs, but the best bet would be the parking lot early before the show or after I suspect. Crazy long lines, but they move pretty quick most places I've been. Plan on 25 for a shirt and probably 15 to 20 for him. Not sure on the masks, but I'd guess in the 15-20 dollar range. Not too bad unless you're right by the stage. At 2 years old I'd give him some ear plugs, but you'll be fine. If you're wanting to meet some guys it wouldn't be a bad spot. Never been to a show in Pitt, but I've been to several. They usually head right in. The crowds outside are just too big for them to stop and sign autographs typically. Just have fun dude, but be prepared TV Tapings are LOOOOONG. There's a lot of dead time even at Smackdown so be prepared to have a restless little one.

3000th Post, 15-Year Rockin' Celebration?
I will be mightily mightily impressed if anyone gets that reference.

Shirts run $25 to $45. Masks run anywhere from $15 for a plastic replica to $50 or $100 for a real version.
Noise is worse the closer you sit to the stage. Ear plugs are a damn good idea no matter where you sit though.
If you want to wait and be one of the first few in, get there about an hour early (this also helps with parking), if you just want to show up and start in wait 10 minutes before the show.
If you can fins the parking area, that will be a good place to wait and try for autographs but, not all will stop. Any restaurants near are a good place to check out, just don't ask while they are eating.

Don't assume they go to the nice restaurants.....I'm in the south and they usually go to the Waffle House after the shows here.
Merchandise is overpriced imo. That's not to say I don't buy a shirt though. The last 3 times I went I didn't buy anything though.
Ear plugs for the little guy are highly recommended. I'm 18 and my hearing is shot, but no need to ruin his so young.
I like to arrive early just to hang out with fellow fans and talk wrestling.
For autographs at the arena: depending on where the performer parking lot is, hang out back there. Some will stop, some will not.
If you have any interactions with the performers, just remember they are tired and have to be in another town the next day.

Thanks so much, guys. Even you, Robby. You're still an asshole though. Haha, just kidding. I know all about them having to leave and not bothering them while eating, that's no big deal. I just want to know so my nephew can meet a few guys and maybe get a few pics. And if I run into a diva, hey...I'll mark out too. Unless it's McCool, then I will be very respectful, because I don't want to be murdered by a 6'11 badass in front of my family and friends. Although...it might make me a legend around here.

The Triple H shirts always cost $5 more than the other shirts at the booth.
Not even making that up.

To figure out how much Triple H gear costs, look at the shirt next to it, and add 12. That would be hilarious.

That's why Shawn Michaels disappears periodically from TV (not to mention HHH himself)...and comes back looking like a bum...who has time to bathe and shave yourself when HHH is working you like a slave on the unicorn farm!? Some say this has contributed to Shawn's recent eye problems...as not only does he have a hard time not fixating on the unicorn horns...but when he mentioned to HHH that he could use a pair of safety glasses, HHH responded "Shawn, I've got two words for you...OPTI GRAB!"

The noise takes a minute to get used to, but your hearing will be fine right after. And sometimes the wrestlers get irritated if you go to the hotels, and I imagine your son wouldn't need to see that. Just stand by the blocked off parking lot.

Earplugs are definitely a good idea. The pyro is absolutely deafening, ESPECIALLY Kane's. It legit startled me at the first TV taping I attended.
I think the merch stands vary from arena to arena. For example, at a Raw I attended, I was standing in line for 45 minutes just to get a t-shirt. My advice is, if there's a merch booth outside the entrance to the arena (on the inside, just before they scan your ticket), go to that instead because the ones beyond that point are gonna be packed.

True story. When I was in High School my mom decided to take me to Chicago and Milwaukee for Raw and Smackdown during Spring Break for my birthday. Anyway while she got Milwaukee tickets right away the Chicago was kind of last minute so our tickets were actually behind the stage. Could still see the ring so it was cool, but you could actually see the guys right before the came out. Well during one of the matches Kane was preparing for a run in. I looked at mom and said "plug your ears" she looked at me and said "why?" and then... Yeah you know the rest. "Thats why mom"

My nephew, but he does look like he could be mine. I wasn't planning on taking him to the hotel anyways, just from what I heard from some people I talked to. As for him being a diva magnet...fingers crossed. But I might bring my dad's new puppy as backup. Thanks again, guys. Should be a fun time. Keep forgetting to mention...for months now, they've been hyping the main event as being a 6-man tag match with Triple H, Cena, and Jeff Hardy taking on Orton, Edge, and Matt Hardy. They showed a commercial for it again tonight during RAW. Still think that's the plan, especially after the draft? They also said WHC Edge and WWE Champ Triple H. So one was updated and one wasn't. I wonder if that's still going to take place.

I went to Raw in Kansas City about a month ago and the advertised dark main event was Edge and Orton vs. Cena and HHH. Well it was the night Steph got attacked and Cena was on Leno so instead we got Show-Taker.
