Just thinking is it me or are there too many psycho heel characters at the moment. There's Edge, Orton, Hardy and Jericho all doing the slow talking, uber-serious, family beating heel act. I think the WWE needs a more comedic heel in its main event ranks or even a heel who appears a bit cooler headed.

But that would mean they all have to have different personalities. Granted they are different, but as you stated, their mannerisms are somewhat similar. But I do agree that a different kind of heel is needed.
Big Show is a good monster heel that just wants to dominate. Thats the only example I can think of right now.

Me and my buddy were just talking about this. You read my mind. Plus, you have Kane, Knox, there was Snitsky, and so on. The only ones that can pull it off right now are Edge and Orton. I would like to see Edge as the one who can literally snap and beat somebody down with a chair, and Orton be the cool sociopath.
So basically:
Edge = Leatherface
Orton = Dahmer or Hannibal Lector for the cool/creepy part.

Just be glad Waylon Mercy isn't around anymore.
Or be upset if you liked the Waylon Mercy gimmick.
I was nine years-old at the time so I didn't get it, so I don't remember how good or bad it would have been. All I know is there's a squash match somewhere on the internet of him squashing Jeff Hardy.
It's been seven years, maybe they should bring the Mercy gimmick outta mothballs.

I think a lot of the characters in the WWE are generic at the moment. They all seem to be directionless. Its seriously like watching Fantasy Wrestling where the roleplay is just whatever suits the guy writing at the moment.

He is as directionless as one can get. Even having the MITB case, he isnt doing anything, and hasnt for awhile. At least for me he hasnt. And I like the guy.

It's true. I think that old way of creating your character is by being yourself turned up to 11 only works with guys who are, you know...interesting. Austin, Rock, etc.
Cena and Orton are just like...I don't know...2 guys you'd see at a bar or something. They don't seem interesting in real life, so crank that up, and it's still dull.

Agreed. And I honestly think Edge is the best psycho heel. Randy Orton should go back to the prettyboy gimmick.

Cocky Prettyboy Jock is the role Orton was born to play. He just looks like a fratboy douchebag. And I like the guy.

Dolph Ziggler would make a good main-event heel.
His direction in life: "For everyone to remember the name...DOLPH ZIGGLER!".

Orton and Jericho aren't crazy...at least not crazier than the average wrestler. They're just assholes who think they're more important than they really are. In Jericho's case, he thinks he's a crusader of truth, and Orton just wants attention.
Edge only acts crazy when he's supposed to be frustrated. Besides that whole black rose thing from last year, he's more cowardly and conniving than anything else

Orton went from cocky prettyboy to a snake in the grass. The way he's now tatted up more than before makes him look more dangerous.

Jericho is the fan hater, Orton gets under your skin, Matt will betray his own brother, and Edge will get the gold no matter what

What the hell is Matt's motivation, anyway? Is he jealous, is he insulted, does he want to prove himself? What?
