www.boxofficemojo.com/weekend/chart/1: Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs - 42.5 million 2: Transformers Revenge of the Fallen - 42.5 million That's the first time in all my time reading estimates that I can remember the estimates for the number 1 and number 2 movie being exactly the same.

Not the first time it has happened. But, it may be the first time a #1 and #2 film have been the same.

What gives Ice Age the #1 over Transformers? Is it the fact that it has a higher average per theater?

Probably what would give Ice Age the edge is the fact that it's the one of the two that debuted this week, whereas Transformers is a repeat.

Is it a bad thing that upon reading the title of this thread, I imagined it being said by Scott Steiner?

I'm not sure how they figure it out, but this is what I always assumed. I'm also thinking the same way. Ice Age earned about $300 more per theater compared to Transformers. That's partly because Ice Age had alot of 3-D theaters though. Interestingly, it does have a decisive internation lead, which would be consistent with Ice Age 2's HUGE internation B.O.
