Both ones where for some reason the sound is just up loud, or the commercial has a loud sound on it.
Its 3 A.M and theirs other people asleep in the house. I have my TV at an okay level, but that damn "Dont Fall Asleep Before The King" commercial comes on. Im in the living room after getting some water and I the air horn part is very loud from all the way in there.
I guess I can appreciate that the commercials on screen message kinda is relevant in that its not smart to be asleep before The King is on, but its not fair that it still comes on at even later hours, like 5 or something. I mean when does this guy sleep?
So uh, yeah...

The ones I hate the most are the local commercials that you can barely hear, so you turn it up And the very next one..."Hi! Billy Mays here!"

Reminds me of The Lonely Island album I got on Rhapsody. I put that on my MP3 player and for whatever reason every track on it is louder than my other tracks. I dunno if its some joke or what but its annoying as all hell.
But yeah, I hate it in videogames too. I gotta keep the volume down when my folks are asleep upstairs (and I know better than to play something like a Metal Gear Solid or Smash Bros Brawl) so I turn it down to where I can still hear some stuff and suddenly something happens or the music kicks up for some reason and I get yelled at.
Yeah, anything Billy Mays related would do it. Not to mention some of the Adult Swim stuff, they always seem to have the volume down on their bumpers and stuff then it shoots back up when it actually gets to commercials.

I know exactly what you're talking about. Still, it could be worse. For reasons unknown by my fiancee and I, Dish Network loves to play the spots for the Jitterbug (cell phones for old people), Enzyte, Extenze, and the Pos-T-Vac penis pump system at ear piercing levels. Look. We get it. You have problems... um... down there. You don't have to shout it from the rooftops.

I've noticed that the audio on commercials tends to be louder than the show. I have to keep turning the volume up when the show comes on and then turning it down during the commercials. It's really annoying.
I have a similar problem with certain DVDs where it seems like the musical score between scenes is a lot louder than the dialogue.

This is actually getting to be a real bad problem. I have to play all my DVDs with subtitles now because of this. You go to turn it up to hear what anyone says and then BIG MUSIC COMES ON JARRING YOU. You have to keep your hand on the remote at all times. Watching Transformers is a good example of this. If you live in a house it's not so bad, but when you live in an apartment, it can be a pain. Mad Magazine did a funny cartoon about this. I'll have to find it and post it here (about loud commercials).
