Wrestling is a morality plate. So, showing heels doing horrible things to babyfaces (which aren't all that insane, it's not like they tried to cut their heads off or something), and how vile, cowardly and bad it was, it garners more heat for the heels, and sympathy for the babyfaces.
I wouldn't call it PG as much as I would call it pro wrestling. So PW maybe.
If, however, Randy Orton took a big knife and tried to cut Shane's leg off, then maybe that's a little TV-14. Or, electricute his testicles.
That's why TNA is TV-14. So, Joe can be a knife wielding maniac till his heart's content.
Also, not using blood to be more kid friendly is completely ridiculous. They used it for years upon years before pro wrestling was commercialized like it is today. Blood shouldn't be used as much, due to the fact that it's important to add more drama and make it less frequent, but having blood in a feud can help it. Ridiculous I say!

Well there is no more blood which removes a little bit from feuds. I agree. I think there are certain times where blood adds to the feel of a match. For instance, Edge and Undertaker's Hell in a Cell. That match could have used it. It was great. But it's such an intense feud that blood would fit. Same goes for Triple H and Orton at Mania. Sure, blood wouldn't have saved that dud but it would have added fuel to the fire. I'm glad they cut back on blading because someone bleeding should mean something. I mean, for a while, it seemed that HBK, Flair and Triple H were blading for every match that they were in. But, they should still implement some blood. Yeah, it makes things a lot more intense in the right moments for it. Seeing blood in every other match on RAW got to be a little much for me, but honestly, there are moments that something happens and I'm looking for the blood...but it doesn't happen.

I don't even notice the TV-PG rating, and honestly I wonder sometimes how they can get away with it.

I don't even notice the TV-PG rating, and honestly I wonder sometimes how they can get away with it. WWE always surprises you in many ways.

I haven't really seen anything I consider 'negative' resulting from the new PG mindset.
If anything, I think it might have served to improve the product a bit.

I don't even notice the TV-PG rating, and honestly I wonder sometimes how they can get away with it. as opposed to: Basically take out some of the cruder sexual jokes, have the women's matches actually be more than a TnA contest, stop saying "suck it" and cursing, and the WWE fits perfectly under the PG rating. Certain stunts, like Jeff Hardy's dive off of the Raw stage onto Orton last year, really bend this rule, but for the most part the WWE follows this guideline. And it makes the product better, honestly. We don't have people getting over for the ability to curse like 14 year olds anymore, and honestly after we've seen the DX cruiser blown up, Hogan ram The Rock's car with an 18 wheeler, and Katie Vick, how much further can they push it? Although Jibbles damn near squashing Cena with a car last year warrants attention...

You see in the usa censors are not so tough on violence as they are on sex and language. So thats why the violence isnt as toned down as people might think. Here in Australia its the other way around so we retain the rating we always had for wwe.

I couldn't agree more. The "PG" thing tends to go to people's heads sometimes (not insulting anybody, just mentioning an observation). i just miss deep bladejobs...thats it

I think the loss of the occasional blade job is a shame, as it can up the adrenaline level and help out things. Aside from that, I'm not tripping about "lighter" content.

Stone Cold Steve Austin got over on his blade job. The sharpshooter on him and blooding trickling down his face is what broke his career through imho.
Back then blade jobs were rare, if they weren't so rare then, chances are Austin might not have become so huge.
...and yeah I'm saying Austins career pivotal point was passing out in a pile of blood, not the 3:16 saying.

Agree about the blood thing. Blood certainly adds to the drama of a feud or match. It doesn't need to be on every show, every week, but what about the Jericho/HBK unsanctioned match at Unforgiven or their ladder match. How about the Taker/Edge HIAC, the HHH/Orton feud or the Cena/Edge last man standing match. And while it was fun in the Attitude era, I don't feel that we need to have gratuitous sexual innuendo or telling everyone to suck it, however can't they have just a little bit of colorful language. Those are my only complaints about PG.
