IMO a reduction in the amount of PPV's would do well, when i was young i remember the the 4 big ppvs Royal Rumble,Survivor Series, Summer Slam, and Wrestlemania the anticipation made them almost seem worth it, with 1 every month or so the WOW factor of the ppv has been lost by cutting out at least half of them you would have ample time to build up a fued, title match etc.

I'd like to see it reduced to 6 PPVs. The titles I'd like to see are: Starrcade Wrestlemania Backlash Great American Bash Summerslam Judgment Day

They'll never reduce the amount of PPV's because they would lose money if they went back to the old ways. Even if the buyrates are lower than before, they're still making more money than they would if they didn't.
YOU PEOPLE GOTTA STOP BUYING PAY PER VIEWS! I'M BEGGING YOU!
And besides, Batista vs. Randy Orton........it'll happen again. And again. And again. And again.

I can't remember the last time I paid money to watch a PPV. God bless those internet pirates.

This will come down to a number of things but I've no doubt the one that will take the least blame is, as Loki stated the stale booking, god awful main event scene and (as Loki didn't state) even worse build to these shows (and 'Mania).
I mean, this year it seemed like they just completely relied upon the fact the Rumble is the Rumble and No Way Out has the Elimination Chamber.
Yes, I'm sure the economy will have contributed, but not that much, no way.
EDIT: Also whoever mentioned TNA, their PPV buyrates have never been high, the likes of Lockdown 2008 and Genesis 2006 were the exceptions, not the rules.

One of the issues for ME is the fact that PPV don't seem special anymore, why pay £15 for a match/es i've seen a few days prior or I'll see better the next day on RAW.
The Only ones that are Special to me are
- Rumble - Because of the Rumble - NWO - Elimination Chambers - Mania - Because It's mania - Backlash - Rematches from Mania that are 90% of the time better than Mania
The rest I won't lose sleep if I miss em.

And I still think Starrcade is a good title to use.

It's simple. The prices are too high for what we get. I'm NOT knocking the product, because the past couple PPV's I have been more then happy after watching them, but with the style of booking these days, there really is no reason to fork over $40 for stuff we've seen 100s of times already.

:DIs it save to say that WWE going PG is the reason? Not necessarily. WWE has been trending PG for some time. The economics of the recession make it more difficult to justify spending $40 on a one-time event, esp. when you can buy/rent the DVD for considerably cheaper than that. Wasn't there a complaint on the TNA board recently that their PPVs didn't have great buyrates either? I think the entire PPV event business model is in trouble. I think that's definately the case. I hate to say it but I wonder how many of those currently foreclosed homes bought a PPV at that time last year.

I liked Rumble and NWO mania was eh okay it was in my hometown so i atleast got to go to axxes or whatever. I think thus far wwe has kind of delivered, I mean I didn't think too much into the matches of ppvs. Like i didn't figure out the orton was going to win the rumble untill that night, and edge doing that double chamber thing in NWO was pretty cool/funny. Sometimes its better not to be a smark..

Its also an old WCW title, and besides trotting out anything WCW related to get cash from old marks/smarks of the NWA/WCW product and young fans who want to see "the good ol' days" older relatives mention, Vince isn't interested in using anything WCW branded. Exception being The GAB basically because it was patriotic and War Games, which was scrapped and replaced with the EC due to the fact we're currently engaged in real combat across the world.

Price is likely a factor. Although to be honest I'm amused that internet streams are being blamed for the poor buyrates of the first two ppv's of 2009. Next it'll be the kids with their MTV and 90210.
