the stupid Diva article
Apparently some loser on a news site is claiming I wrote that dumb Diva Afterlife article that has been making the rounds. It was originally posted at the DOI messageboard by a guy pretending to be a former Diva. Someone posted it on the message board in the member's sectionof missyhyatt.net and this was my response at the time:
I actually found that article insulting when I think about it. The dumb ass author even emailed me the article. Many successful wrestlers from the 80's ranging from Ric Flair-Brutus Beefcake-Iron Sheik-etc still do the autograph circuit. Granted everybody's prices vary. I see no shame in selling autographs. I seen plenty of obscure actors selling autographs at non wrestling conventions [Oompa Loompa #23]. Most wrestlers do signings for their income or to supplement their income. Why should any of us feel any shame for doing it?
Mick Foley who invested his money very well does a ton of them. I found the author to be a idiot, since he took the time to insult a business full of workers that have entertained him. Dawn Marie got good intentions with her Wrestlers Rescue. Tammy still sells tons of pics. I still do decent business at conventions. Should we all stop making extra $$$, since the author doesn't consider us relevant?
I always been realistic that I'm never getting a WWE job. I never had to ask for a job with them after 1987, since I know I will never get one. I'm not dillusional. I always said that I still do shows & appearances for the fun of it & for shopping $$$$. I don't think I'm a superstar on most shows. I consider myself a veteran who is open to dispense tips and advice to the next generation. I'm not holding anybody from having the spotlight or taking anybody's spot.
I found the article to be very hate filled & sarcastic from somebody who never worked in the biz.
Someone then claimed it was in fact a former Diva, but I know it wasn't because the guy also emailed it to me at my email address. So I reponded with this:
The author was actually the person who posted the article. His cover was blown immediately when he sent me the article & another person confirmed it. It's still irrelevant. Should i insult baseball or football players that sign autographs long after their careers have ended? I think we should all have a little respect to most wrestlers from past or present that have entertained us in some manor. Writing a article that basically wants everybody to disapear after their 5 minutes is up is insulting. Many of us made sacrifices to be in the biz. If a wrestler chooses to sign autographs at conventions, its based upon the demand by the wrestling fans. If I made no $$$$, than I obviously wouldn't be doing them. I guess the author left out his criteria on who is worthy enough to only sell autographs.
I'm also pretty sure one of the "rules" was bashing me. And if I had written it, I would have signed my name to it. It also would have been a hell of lot funnier.
