Found this on youtube just now. Seen it many times before but I really like the presentation the video editor did with this, very good job. This was a big deal at the time. To get an understanding of it, read this lengthy synopsis of the whole angle, which took DiBiase - who was the most hated guy in the Mid-South promotion at the time - and turned him into their biggest babyface in the span of one show. www.midsouthwrestling.com/The%20Greatest%20Angle%20Ever.htm

The grownup in me likes the story and the psychology.
The kid in my likes how everyone involved wore the same red trunks... [/miniwheats]

Man thats good stuff. I sincerely wish wrestling was still like that. I've read about it and seen the match but I wasn't even alive when that angle played out; jeez I was born too late.

I knew Dick Murdock did the Brainbuster, but on the freaking cement?! ECW, FMW and CZW, you were maybe a little late to the party on that one....
Anyway, this was one hell of an angle, and I think everyone played their part to a T. It makes me wonder if anything like that would really work in modern wrestling.

I have loved this match for a while. Two of my favorites fight it out in the ring, and then Murdock brings the hardcore with the cement brainbuster. This match was ECW before there was ECW.

Man, so much of Mid-South was ECW before ECW. It's a natural progression though - Mid-South is where Eddie Gilbert came into his own as a booker, and he taught a lot to Paul Heyman when they were together later. Now a lot of the stuff in Mid-South wasn't Gilbert's booking per se, but he grasped it while he was there and carried it on to Paul.
