I was talking about dumb ass wrestling giccks today with my brother, and figured I'd make this poll. I decided to keep it to gimmicks, as opposed to actual angles.
My vote goes to Xanta Claus. I can't think of a single reason why that gimmick was supposed to ever work.

"Gooker" is now synonymous with Wrestlecrap, so ol' Gobbledy gets my vote here.

I don't think the gooker was that dumb. Just way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way too overhyped.

Yeah, it was meant to be a Thanksgiving joke or something and it was the 80s so I think it was overhyped a bit. I might be unpopular by doing this but I'll do other for The Spirit Squad. Thinking about the annoyingness and the fact that they were shunted to semi-main status still makes me cringe. It also brought us the star that is Kenny Dykstra so that alone gets my vote.

Other: Rocco. While the items presented on this list our wrestlcrap at least you can kind of see what they were going for. Gooker was for family fun, Xanta Clause was there attempt at the horror/evil christmas character, Booger was just supposed to be digustiing that you wanted to see him beat, the sports gimmicks were easily understood and Terry Taylor was... well that won I can't justity.
But they all pale to stupidity of Rocco. You've got two guys in the Road Warriors who are known for being tough and no-selling . You bring in their long time manager to freshen them up after they had grown stale and you shot a series of vingettes where the look to regain their edge. Then after all that they find A FRICKING DUMMY? Of course it reached higher levels of stupidty when Paul Ellering would attempt to throw his voice so Rocco could inspire Hawk and Animal.
Other angles have been worse, but I don't think anything was every stupider than this.

I think I agree with Rocco also. I can see where your coming from with 'justifying the others'.
I kind of liked Bastion Booger and was during a time when the WWF was in a ultimate cartoon and kind friendly era. Right before 'The New Generation Era' sure the gimmick was wrestlecrap but it wasn;t anywhere near the worst of all time. He fitted with the times and was aimed solely at kids. As was the WWF (for the most part) at the time.

Well, I can see some logic in having a Turkey come out of an egg on Thanksgiving, I don't see what it was supposed to lead up to.
Xanta Claus is stupid, but I could totally see Ted DiBiase doing that.
Job and Sports Gimmicks may be silly, but they are not stupid. "He's a plumber, who wrestles on the side" Athletes have side jobs, especially indy wrestlers. And those guys were little more than jobbers, which is good, because I hate when my jobbers are some guy from Florida.
Well, you think of a way to get Terry Taylor over.
My vote is for Oz.

Yeah, it was meant to be a Thanksgiving joke or something and it was the 80s so I think it was overhyped a bit. Not to be nit picky. However it was 1990 Survivor Series and not 1980's. Rumors at the time were a massive superstar was going to burst out of the egg. With some sources saying it was going to be Ric Flair (who didn't join WWF till almost one year later) who was unhappy with his position at that time in WCW. Jim Heard was on top and said Flair was to old. He wanted Flair to shave his head and start to call. himself 'Spartacus'. Also this was the PPV that Undertaker debuted.

Speaking of dummys, I think the stupidest wrestlecrap was Rick Steiner feuding with Chucky. The Gooker would have been fine is he was just some dumb mascot.
