The ad they're currently running for their "The Edge" pizza is at least twelve years old. The kid giving the speech (his name is Courtland Mead. I don't know why I know that...) in it was the same kid from "The Shining" remake mini-series that ABC did, and that came out in 1997, the same year The Edge pizza was first produced. Since it was taken off menus quickly thereafter and he looks about the same, this almost undoubtedly dates from that same year. So they're running a 12 year old commercial (that looks like it. The video has deteriorated and become cloudy and grainy) with updated logo and graphics. I realize that it's cheaper than making a new one, but this bothers me. I'll go back to my corner now

I noticed that yesterday. I saw the commercial and my first thought was, didn't they run this commercial in the mid 90's? I knew I remembered it from back in the day.

I can't explain it...
I hate Pizza Hut.
I really do!
It's just... I don't know, that thing looks good, and it makes sliced tomatoes on a pizza sound like a good idea...

I knew it was familiar, but I didn't realize it was quite that old.

Because they're trying to conjure memories.
Asking you "hey, remember this commercial? Remember how much you liked this pizza? What do you know, its back! Go get it!"

Because they're trying to conjure memories. Asking you "hey, remember this commercial? Remember how much you liked this pizza? What do you know, its back! Go get it!" The problem is that it was a pizza that was quickly taken off the menu, didn't show back up for over three years, and has only sporadically appeared since then. If they're trying to create a phenomenon like the McRib, they are failing. The McRib is often imitated, never duplicated.

Is the world ready to know the answer?

The Milky Way adverts running in the UK at the moment are also pretty old. From the 80's would be my guess.

I just thought it looked sort of old and had a vague recollection of the kid actor in it. Google provided the rest.
