I've never understood the hate that the 2007 Transformers movie sometimes gets. People crap all over everything from Shia Labeuf (sp?) to the weak storylines, plotholes, continuity, etc. I've heard all sorts of complaints from people who seem to see the G1 cartoon run through rose-colored glasses. I was (and still am) a HUGE fan of the G1 series. That being said, I fully acknowledge the fact that the G1 series was completely unrealistic (even for a cartoon about giant alien shapeshifting robots), had plotholes that Unicron could orbit through, and absolutely no continuity whatsoever. And the plots in most of the episodes were about 100X weaker than the 2007 movie. Yet people still complained that the 2007 movie "ruined" the Transformers. And they're already crapping all over this one, and the damn thing isn't even out in the US yet. I just don't get it. I've always said that if you're looking for a cinematic masterpiece, then Transformers is NOT the movie for you. There ARE plotholes. The storyline IS kinda weak. It's NOT going to be this generation's "Gone with the Wind". It's a popcorn flick. You go there to relive a bit of nostalgia, see awesome CGI effects, watch over-the-top explosions, and check out Megan Fox's incredible body. If you're going there expecting anything more than that, you're going to be disappointed. I fully expect to take my son (who's 9th b-day happens to be the same day the film is being released) to this movie so we can both be kids for a couple of hours. And as long as I get treated to the same level of explosions, CGI, campy storylines, and Megan Fox, I'll consider it 20 bucks well spent. Just had to get that out there. I don't like the "it's a popcorn movie" argument. Mainly because it's possible to have some effects heavy blockbusters that are excellent films with a great screenplay that have excellent effects. Terminator 2 was a typical blockbuster with awesome effects and explosions. Yet it was an excellent film in which you needed to pay attention to the plot. This year's Star Trek was a typical blockbuster with awesome effects and explosions but again it was an excellent film you needed to pay attention to the plot. There are several others that fit into this category IMO, The Dark Knight, Iron Man, X Men 2 and Harry Potter 3 are just a few off the top off my head. I'd even throw the first Transformers film into that list. The days of "check your brain at the door and just enjoy the effects" are behind us. People still want blockbusters with explosions and effects but they want good plots and performances as well. But people also want to see an occasional film where you can shut your brain off and enjoy the ride. As for Shia Labuffe, I don't "hate" him persey. I thought he was a high point in CHARLIE'S ANGELS:FULL THROTAL (where he stood his own comedically next to Bernie Mac). My only "problem" with him is that he's a big movie star and his foremr co-star, Christy Carlson-Romano is trapped in Disney Hell

I don't Shia. What I hate is the words that are coming out of his mouth in these movies.

And hate for this movie? Have you seen the reaction most people here and everywhere else? People LOVE it, they eat it up with a spoon. What I hate is the "It's just a popcorn movie, shut your brain off and enjoy it"! I hate it for THIS movie, because of 2 reasons 1: I'm a big TF fan, and the stuff they did in it (excepting the last half hour) flew in the face of everything I love, and that ties into reason 2: IT WAS ONE OF THE DUMBEST F'N MOVIES I'VE EVER SEEN!! As a filmgoer, I was insulted watching this movie. The dialogue had me grinding my teeth, the background characters were so stereotypical and poorly drawn out that it felt like I was watching something along the lines of Epic Movie, and as soon as Bumblebee relieved himself on the amazingly annoying John Turturro character, I was done. I have yet to walk out of a movie, but Transformers almost made me do it.
I really don't understand, for the life of me, why people trash Batman And Robin, yet praise Transformers. They're practically the same movie to me. I know a lot of people disagree with me, and I'll always feel like Kevin McCarthy at the end of the original Invasion of The Body Snatchers, but that's the way it goes.

All I know is that there was a guy that used to go to the comic shop I go to, that is such a Transformer's mark that he has the AUtobot logo on his car and talks non stop about them. He loved the first one.

I thought the first one was cool. Though the crappy soundtrack prevented it from becoming a favorite of mine.
I'll probably wait to see the new one on DVD when it comes out.

spoiler warning! megan fox is going to be hot in this movie! yep. I'm still convinced that she doesn't actually exist, that she was created to be the perfect actress: body build and old crazy attitude of Angelina Jolie, through the roof, amped up sexuality that may or may not actually be true...she's the real life SimONE.

He loved the first one. Wow. I really need to get that done to my own car one day. One guy out in the western States (I believe New Mexico) actually remodelled his car to look like Barricade after the first movie came out. Unsurprisingly, though, the police didn't see the humor in it.

Did you not see the video showing Megan Fox as CGI in this movie?

I bought s'more Decepticons today. I think I have a problem. That depends... Which ones did you buy? Voyager Megatron, Deep Desert Brawl. Wasn't expecting to find Megatron. I went there for Soundwave, and once again, did not find 'em. I like both though, Brawl isn't that bad. I'm having a hard time getting into the constructicons. They just don't appeal to me that much without their ability to form Devastator. But I'm sure that's coming. (eh, can the Deluxe ones do that?)

None of the individually packaged Constructicons will be able to form Devastator. Due to the complexity of the Movie designs, they'll have a separate Constructicon set that goes from vehicles to Devastator parts rather than vehicles to robots. It'll be about a hundred bucks or so, and should be around the same size as a Supreme class figure (think Unicron).

At least they've had a little bit of mercy on me and are holding off on the Human Alliance wave until this Fall. I gotta have that version of Bumblebee. Oh, and how is the Voyager Ratchet? I figure it's just a repaint of the 2007 one, but either way?

They need to have the old Transfomers theme in there. Even if it's just end-credits music.

While "Big and Smart" gets you at least 250Mill.

Still, it's an alright figure, though I like Ironhide better if you're looking for a Voyager-sized Autobot.
