and somehow that movie got a sequel, and shockingly it's also quite terrible.

and somehow that movie got a sequel, and shockingly it's also quite terrible. And includes a scene where the token Asian uses his obvious karate skills (Asian=Kung-Fu Master) and is shocked when he gets bit after grabbing a Zombie by the head to snap its neck. So, yes. Even without Boll, House of the Dead seems doomed. Dooooomed. That said, nice review, Cela. Even if it did bring back flashbacks from when I braved to watch the movie.

Don't forget (unless you want to) the part where the one girl says "Ive got this" and proceeds to enter into a very poorly thought melee which ends in her being chomped quite quickly. Edit: Wait... that was in the sequel? Cause there was Asian US Flag girl with Kung Fu skills in the first one.

This time in the form of an "elite" member of a commando squad...who is apparently stupid enough to get bit rather quickly...

Nice, I also heard that the Marine Patrol woman that had her legs cut off and died in the first one also made it in. Perhaps another review someday.

I actually think part 2 is even worse then then the first one, at least the first one is dumb fun the sequel is just plain dumb.

Movie was bad, but still entertaining enough in a B-horror movie sort of way.
Hate to do it, but I thought that "Tunnel Rats" and "Postal" was actually kind of good. So, maybe Uwe is improving.

I, myself, am a huuuuuuuuuuge horror fan. I particularly enjoy bad horror movies. I have a whole stack of DVDs featuring some of the most forgettable dreck of all time.
With that being said, I LOATHED this movie. None of the characters were remotely likeable, and the plot actually makes films like Don't Go In The Woods or the Nail Gun Massacre seem coherent. I shut this turd off after exactly one hour. As soon as the action sequence with the Matrix effects got going, I was done. I'm glad I stopped when I did, because it sounds like things got even worse as the movie went on. Even worse is that it's only one of two movies I've ever walked away from.
For all the bad horror movies I've ever seen, House of the Dead is, by a landslide, the biggest f***ing piece of s*** I've ever seen dedicated to film.

I implore you to please pick up Death Racers starring Raven and ICP. It makes House of the Dead look Oscar worthy. I've seen the trailer for Death Racers, and I'm going to have to disagree. That movie looks terrible, but at least the people who made it seem to acknowledge that fact. I mean, come on - Raven and ICP? People will know exactly what they're getting into. House of the Dead, on the other hand, presented itself as a legitimate horror movie. The ad campaigns played it up as a legitimate horror film, and what we got....ugh. If the movie didn't try to be something it clearly wasn't, I might not have the distaste that I have for it.
