I grew up in the 16-bit era of the early and mid 90's. Back then I didn't have any video games because my parents (mostly my mom) thought they would rot my brain, kill my imagination, that sort of thing. Now that I'm an adult and my parents can't tell me what to do, and other stuff has already rotted my brain, and my imagination has long since been crushed by the cruel realities of the world, I'm getting to re-live (?) the childhood I never had by catching up on the great video games of that era, mostly SNES stuff. What I'd like from all of you is to help me share the joy and make up for lost time by suggesting good SNES games besides the obvious. No Mario, no Zelda, no Chrono Trigger...all of those games are marvelous, and I've got them, but I'm looking for little-known, overlooked, and underappreciated classics. To start things off...The Firemen, which was released in Europe and Japan but sadly never in the US. www.youtube.com/watch?v=wn3FuXBHQHsI've only had time to mess around with the first couple of levels of this one, but it's really a kick. Very unique gameplay that's fairly intuitive to pick up but difficult to get really good at, partially due to the inherent difficulty of directing the hose's spray accurately with the (by today's standards primitive) SNES directional controls. Edit: Also worth noting is that this game is by HUMAN Entertainment, the people behind the Fire Pro Wrestling games we all know and love, and some of the menu selection sounds are the same as the ones in the SNES FP games, which I appreciate. Please, plug your favorite lesser-known SNES games.

Does Zombies Ate My Neighbors count? Because seemingly EVERYONE had that game but me.

Link to the past is my all time favorite game but since it's banned I'll say Saturday Night Slam Masters. Man, that was fun. And if it counts Spider-Man Maximum Carnage.

Kirby's Superstar. In my opinion the best platformer that didn't have Mario or Donkey Kong Country.

That's honestly the first thing I thought of. The Peacekeepers was a pretty sweet beat'em up.

I've always had something for Sky Blazer. Maybe not the best game, but it was fun for it's time.

Rocky Rodent. Great sidescroller
The Final Fight Series. Doesn't get the respect it deserves, imo. More fun and better story than Streets of Rage.

Sticking with "Non-Obvious" here...
-Skyblazer -Brain Lord (or dear GOD yes, Brain Lord...) -Alcahest -Super Adventure Island 2 -Thunder Spirits -Gundam Wing : Endless Duel -The Peace Keepers (even if it cut out half of the Japanese version's music) -Super Valis 4 (if you stick with it a while and really give it a chance) -Dual Orb 2 -Illusion of Gaia (though it SHOULD be obvious)

Besides the ones already mentioned:
- Robotrek - Seiken Densetsu 3 (well, it isn't obvious to US players anyway) - Battleclash - Metal Combat: Falcon's Revenge - Super Adventure Island 2 - Battlemaniacs - Maximum Carnage - Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel - R-Type III
