Was put to sleep today.
I got it when I was 17 years old, and he moved in with my mom when I moved out of the house (I wasn't allowed to have him with me) and she took care of him since.
Recently, she's been letting him out during the day, since it's been so hot, and he just relaxes by the door. He was a pretty laid back cat that would follow my mom or dad around as they did the gardening and everything... and was very peaceful.
And then this morning happened. He was laid out in the backyard crying. His face seemed mangled, and he was very skinny. Sure, he had lost weight the last month or so, but we attributed it to him being more active. His eyes were glossed over, and he wasn't moving.
I took him and my mom to the vet and it turns out he had internal injuries, and wouldn't make it.
We had to put him to sleep.
It's been a sad day, and everything happened so quickly. The doctor said it looked like he was hit by a car.
I already miss the little guy, as he would be at my side whenever I was at my moms, doing laundry or going to the backyard or whatever.
Knuckles... I love you.

I'm sorry. I really hate to hear that. I have two cats and they mean a lot to me. I don't know how I'd react if I had to do that. It was for the best though. At least it's not suffering. Again,I'm sorry. :-(

Damn, I'm so sorry to hear that. If it helps, I do know how you feel. My cat that I had for years and years died of kidney failure a couple of years back. It was one of the saddest days of my life. That really sucks, Mr. Meat. RIP, Knuckles

I've had my cat for four years, and I love him very much. I can understand how you must be feeling, I'm sorry that had to happen...I'd be crushed if I was ever told I had to do that to my cat.
I'm really sorry.

Sorry, man. My family always had cats growing up, and we had a dog we had to put down too, so I know what it's like.

Sorry to hear. I've been there a few times. Luckily, cool cats seem to gravitate toward me. The one in my sig can always cheer me up.

Aww, the poor cat! I'm sorry for your lose. I love my cats. I would cry if we lost one. But my cats are indoor; we can't let them out because we live on a main road and they are kind of stupid sometimes. >.<

Thank you for the support.
It's been a weird day.
By the way, I'm 29 now, so he's been with our family for 12 years.... ever since he was a month old.
And I named him Knuckles because of how he would purr and cuddle you whenever you would rub the top of his paws... He was also fond of licking you whenever he was comfortable around you.

I feel for you.
I had gotten this kitten when I was about 7 (1996), and it was the most lovable, loyal animal ever. Fast forward to 2007, he too started getting skinny, and would always lay and sleep in the same spot. Whenever he would get up to eat or drink, he struggled, as if it killed him to move or something (like sluggish), and at that point I knew the time was coming.
Then one morning my mother wakes me up crying, telling me he's not breathing, I go to check, and sure enough he wasn't breathing, and his eyes were glazed. I'm not gonna lie, I teared up, because he was a lot like a companion for pretty much my entire childhood. He was so much like a member of the family, that we had him cremated.
Also, I currently have this cat that I had since early 2000. So they were both close, and even though my cat still acts normal, I can tell he feels lonely.
Sorry to hear about your loss, man.

We have 3 cats none of them go outside though, I'd rather them stay in the house than run the risk of sleeping in the street.

I'm so sorry to hear that.
We've lost so many cats over the years, mostly to old age, but last year we lost a four year old to cancer and then a few months later we one of our little kittens to being run over by a car.
17 is a grand old age for a cat to live, and I'm pretty sure he's grateful for all the love and attention you gave him.
RIP

Sorry to hear man. I know what it's like to lose cats. Had a cat that lived to be 16 and one day, she happened to jump into a junked car next door and we never saw her again. Probably couldn't even make it home. Breaks my heart to think of sometimes.
I have my own cat now and I'd be devastated too if anything bad happened to him.
Sorry about your loss.
