I just graduated college in May with a degree in Film and Broadcasting, was the Editor-in-Chief of my college's newspaper and left a decent paying part time job at a law firm for an internship at ABC-7 here in New York. Today, I'm jobless and trying to find positives in the situation.
How are folks dealing with unemployment or otherwise crappy job situations? I'm feeling quite useless right about now.

You're never useless as long as you can get some heel heat on this board.
That's what I've learned.
And you'll never fight alone, no matter how many enemies you make.

I blew a golden opportunity to make 1500 a month starting with Verizon earlier this year.
Right about now, I'm sludging thru the unemployment process and hoping that the interview I had with Sprint last week went as well as I hope it did.
I'm not trying to settle for the "the econony is horse poo" arguement, but there's definitely mounting evidence, and most of my ignorance of that fact stems from me wanting a job badly.

You know, considered how bad the economy is.... there are a lot of HELP WANTED signs downtown that are not being taken down.
This weekend I witnessed a girl bitching that she can't find work... get offered a 9$ an hour job (base, before tips) at the bar she was bitching at... and she turned it down.
I'll never figure some people out.
Her reason for not working was "I can't work nights, that's when my shows are on".
And the world gets one step closer to DOOM!

You're lucky then, alot of places in my downtown have simply closed. Nice way to make the "we're not working hard enough" argument for the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression though

And putting about 10 applications in per week.

I went back to school, but I feel for all you guys out there. I had a job paying $500 a week sitting at a computer. I really should have kept it, but it had no future at all so I figured I'd give a masters a shot. I'm much happier in school, but I am BROKE

Working a part-time job, roughly getting between 30-40 hours for about $9 an hour (starting last week, before that I've only been making $7.50). But the job market has sucked around here even before the recession was official, so I'm keeping it just so I don't have to move back home with my parents. I'm keeping an eye out for jobs but not actively looking like I used to, especially after one day when I bought a Sunday paper for the classifieds and they were literally less than a page long (and that's for ALL the classifieds, not just jobs) when they used to have their own section. I kinda want to go back to school but I also like being debt free.

Looked for a job over summer, didn't find one. Been focusing on making my portfolio so I can start applying during the fall semester.

I've got loans and my assistantship through May of 2010. After that, who knows. I'm not looking forward to it, though.

couldn't find a job this summer, but I think that's more to blame on the fact that a large portion of the people my age, rather than move away and go to college or join the military or something decided to stay here and get jobs, so once summer rolled around, there was only a couple of openings for quite a few people. Really sucked.
But I have a job lined up for when I move back to college.

Finally found a damn job after about 2 months of unemployment. I'll be working as a roving teller at a local bank. So, I'm pretty happy.
