I'm sure all six players are completely broken up about it. it's more like 50 players... and all of them have been hunting down the giant bomb guys ever since they started making videos chronicling the last month of this game's existence.

Guess the developers took the blue pill after all.
What? It's late. Ah, screw it.

Not to be cocky, but publishers who want to get into mmos need to use these game closings as examples. Just because you have a famous designer (Tabula Rasa) or a hot IP (The Matrix) doesn't make a successful game.
World of Warcraft is the exception to the rule...not the standard. Not every game is going to make that kind of money.

Galaxies is a mess of a game that will be swept away once "The Old Republic" is released, and Everquest 2 only continues because of a fanatically loyal (but ever decreasing) userbase.

Feel free to call me a WoW fanboy, but having played other MMOs I think Blizzard just did things better then most MMOs were doing at the time of it's release. The point I was trying to make was there seems to be a rush to get into the MMO market without looking at the history of these types of games. IMO some game companies think, "WoW makes a ton of money...these MMOs are moneymakers!" They don't considered the other factors into Blizzard's success: a incredibly talented team at blizzard, a universe with deep lore, an art style while looking "cartoony" allows for a wide varity of computers to play, a ton of money invested into the project, and that famous polish Blizzard does to make sure a game is great before they even think about releasing it.

Alot of the MMO players have probably migrated to cheaper stuff like MapleStory anyway.
Who's guessing we'll see this for Age of Conan in a couple of years?

Yeah, I always assumed MMORPGs would probably implode into a few large games after a few years.
