In HHH we trust?
Sources: ProWrestling.net, Wrestling Observer Newsletter
Vince McMahon and his creative team currently feel that the quality of the Monday Night RAW is strong. Vince wants there to be differences in the content between his various TV shows, and one company source sees silver lining in this by pointing out that SmackDown is able to have such quality wrestling because RAW is Vince's sports entertainment variety show. The problem, is that RAW is the company's flagship show and is usually how the general public judges the company.
This week's episode of RAW was mostly straight from Vince McMahon, to the point that one source says he essentially dictated the direction of the show to the creative team.
For months now, some colleagues have been crediting Triple H and Shawn Michaels for trying their best to weed out some of the campy stuff Vince and lead writer Brian Gewirtz produce. Even people who don't like HHH backstage are saying that he should soon be taking the reigns from Vince as the creative head of the company. Triple H is seen as the most likely candidate for the job due to his family ties, but sources within the company also acknowledge that Triple H does have a good understanding of what the fans want and who their target audience really should be.
Triple H has been at the recent RAW shows, but one backstage observer notes that he isn't as emotionally attached or involved in the show when he's not wrestling. In other words, he might be saving his ideas for when he returns to television.

I do belive this has been said on this board before. HHH is a fan of late 1980s NWA booking, which nobody seems to have a bad word for. I belive his major problem is the same one every booker has. You can be on TV and do creative work.

I've also heard Trips is one of the only people close to creative who have seen wrestling outside of the WWF or late 80s NWA. He seems to be looking for a balance, which is sorely needed right now.

Yes, I think most people around here would be okay with Trips in a lead booker capacity as long as he isn't wrestling on his show. He seems like the guy in whom the company imbues its hopes when things are shaky. Unlike Cena, he doesn't get the teens/twenties booing contingent in every city, and unlike Cena he won't lost merchandise sales if they have to turn him heel. He is a valuable asset, but will likely be even more valuable post-retirement in keeping wrestling alive as a business.

I think Hunter would be great as head of creative, as he is someone who seems to have a real grasp of what a wrestling show should be. Plus, with all his years working with Vince he'd also be able to put in that "sports entertainment" style that Vince likes without going overboard.
I'm all for it, damn shame it's unlikely to happen anytime soon

As long as he keeps those stupid skits with celebrity impersonators off the show, I'll be happy with Triple H's booking.

I'll jump on the "so long as he isn't World Champion/wrestling at the same time" bandwagon. THAT could lead to conflict of interest in a big way.

I'm not a fan of his on-screen character, but I would fully support Triple H taking over the booking of Raw. Triple H may be guilty of a lot of things, but he's also got a really good grasp of what pro wrestling should be. I'd imagine that if he were booking the show, it'd actually feel like a wrestling company again.

I'd wouldn't even mind if Tripl H still wrestled while he was head booker. As long as he's not pushing himself as the champion it should be good stuff. I just hope Steph stays the hell away from booking the show. She's the exact opposite from Triple H when it comes to business knowledge. She tried to book like it's a sitcom and hired people who think that way. That's the only problem I can see with this as Steph will want to keep those people and Triple H won't.
The way I see it, Shane can take over the company and be the face of it. He's great at PR. Steph can be VP as she knows business like Linda does. Triple H can be head booker as that's playing to his strengths.
I can believe the Vince/Raw stuff because the whole show just reeked of Vince and Gerwirtz. Raw does have a strong roster, but it's nowhere near it's potential due to Vince's desire for sideshow skits and Gerwirtz appeasing him.

This raises an interesting question. Say we are 3 years down the road and Vince decides to hand the reigns to Triple H. Would you rather see him wrestle and be head booker, or move into a personality much like Vince. Could you see him being called Mr.Helmsley and cleaning house every now and then?

I've wondered this too, many times. Will he take over the "No Chance" music, or will that be saved for Steph?

The only way WWE can get better anytime soon is if Vince will step the f*** down and let Shane take over with HHH.....

Hunter seems to have a great mind for the business, and as such, I would fully endorse him being head booker even if he IS still wrestling / champion. It's not a conflict of interest, it's him putting faith in himself and his abilities to get over. And I don't care who you are, Triple H is still one of the best in the business.

Stephanie has always been groomed to take over Vince's role with Shane taking Linda's...the idea that Steph will have no input on creative will never happen. Even if H somehow got her to make him head booker she'd still have major influence over what was going on.

I fear the Dusty Rhodes effect if he becomes the booker on the show he is on....1988 wasnt the greatest year for the NWA...but when he left 89 and 90 were pretty damn good.
