He did it a few times when he debuted with his feud with Jeff hardy.

Just want to note the subtle difference of the Van Terminator and Coast 2 Coast:
Van Dam: He used used chairs
McMahon: He used trash cans.
They might have used other or those signature weapons before, but the general basic difference of the move is popularized by those weapons from going one end to the other of the ring.
Van Terminator:
Coast 2 Coast:

The WWE ring looks a bit bigger, could explain the usage of the trash can. I always thought they would end up feuding as a kid, but it never happened. I became a perma-mark for RVD after this and the infamous crowd dive.

I wouldn't mind seeing one of Shane's old ones to see if he makes the distance before hitting the ground.

A lot of wrestlers have said that's actually quite an adjustment to get used to.

What also helps the WWE's ring appear larger is the way they film it. You hardly ever see a shot of a WWE ring where the full ring is in focus, unless it's a tight shot.
At least to me, when I go back and watch other fed's matches vs the WWE, it makes the WWE look better for the presentation.
And to be back on topic, I always liked RVD's version better than Shane O'Mac's, if only because Shane looks like he's barely hitting the guy, and RVD gets full extension on it. Shane's almost looks like he's being shoved into it reluctantly.

That's why I said I'd want to see one of Shane's earlier ones.
