I was thinking the other day.. did RVD at any time in the WWE get to use the Van Terminator? I think it kinda sucks that he pretty much invented it, yet it became Shane McMahon's signiture crazy spot.

I need to look into it then, I must have missed it when he did My only memory from 2002 was that Ladder Match on RAW where he and Jeff Hardy teamed up. And in 2006 was sometime, I am forgetting, but I'm almost positive he did it a time or two then.

He also used it on Paul Heyman on RAW around the 2002 King of the Ring.
I too think it's crap that Shane McMahon continued to use the move after RVD was signed. RVD invented the move, so that should make the move his in whatever company he is wrestling for at the time.

I just picture Stephanie trying to do a 450 splash based on misinterpreting your statement. ;D Anyone remember when Shane did the Shooting Star Press a couple of times? Awesome.

RVD invented the move, so that should make the move his in whatever company he is wrestling for at the time. I don't think a move can be trademarked or copyrighted by a wrestling company or wrestler. Although he did invent the move, it's not like RVD is the only one allowed to use it in a match. In defense of Shane McMahon, I remember him using it in his match with Vince at Wrestlemania 17.

I think RVD used it on Big Show at least once during their ECW title feud in 2006.

If that were the case, then RVD and Eddie should have changed moves, moreso RVD since Eddie brought it to the U.S. EDDIE! EDDIE! EDDIE!

Yeah, that was the first time he did it. I remember reading PWI, or WOW after that event, and in the recap. it said something like
winner:shane mcmahon loser:vince mcmahon real loser:Rob Van Dam, when the move that was supposedly so atheletic, only he could pull it off was used by Shane O' Mac

Considering how RVD was known to "potato" guys, I think it made sense some that he didn't really do it. Shane's was a heck of a lot safer.
And in the WWE... it doesn't matter how long you've done a move, it's how long you've been in WWE doing the move. Supposedly, Saturn had to stop with the DVD due to Godfather using it and there were "rumors" of Eddie having to drop the Frog Splash due to D'Lo. I admit, it's a bit retarded (namely the latter), but eh.

Didn't Van Dam use it in that 4 team TLC match on Raw? I think that was the one where the Katie Vick angle began immediately after.

Well RVD did do it when he got there. Not like he never did it in the WWE. Shane may have done it and people may have thought it was a move only RVD can pull off. You have to realize that Shane is very athletic himself. It has been came Shane special move in the WWE but then again RVD is no longer with them.
