The best suprise return ive seen IMO is The Undertaker at JD 2000, many people might say it wasnt a suprise, i was 10 years old and had no idea at the time...so thats mine...

I'll second this. The WWE did a perfect job of covering this up and keeping it a secret.

I'll second this. The WWE did a perfect job of covering this up and keeping it a secret. The reaction of every wrestler in that ring helped sell that even more. Do you think Jerry and JR knew prior?

I'm going to say no for Jerry and JR knowing prior, since I think they did something similar before (a big return) and not telling the announcers. And yes, the wrestlers' reactions made it even better. HHH sold the shock perfectly.

When Hulk Hogan returned after Mr America's reign of Terror.
Even though it was short term, RVD at the Rumble was fun... and that's how Surprise entrants should be booked.

HBK returning in 2002. Nash built it up perfectly that "surprises" in wrestling are usually let-downs so he was deliberately nonchalant about it...then HBK returns after a couple years of being completely off TV.

I have to agree with Cena's return at the Royal Rumble as well.
I honestly didn't see that happening.

A few years ago, I was a massive Cryme Tyme mark, so I was bummed as hell when they got released. They were about to win the tag titles, and they got massive pops every week for doing the auction thing in the crowd.
Then, night after WM 24, they returned and I marked like crazy. They even did the auction thing for a little bit...
Now, they suck ass. But that was the most I marked out for a return.

Goldberg night after wrestlemania 19. Big Show, royal rumble 2001 even though it lasted like 30 seconds and he turned heel. Taker at Judgment Day. Kane saving goldust and booker t from the Unamericans. Edge returning in 2004 and spearing bischoff. Austin at Backlash. Warrior at Mania 8. Owen at IYH DX.

Goldberg night after wrestlemania 19. Honestly, to me this has always been one of WWE biggest ball dropping moments. They go and sign Goldberg, and NO ONE knows about this, and instead of having a surprise debut on Raw of him coming out and spearing the f*** out of Rocky, they go and air 2 or 3 commercials during WM XIX that promote that the signed Goldberg. Total wasted opportunity for what could have been one of the biggest shockers ever. Can you imagine how great that moment would have been if they had done it Bischoff style (more on him in a minute) and not let anyone know about the signing? That would have gone down as one of the biggest moments in the history of Raw, instead we ended up with a "worst kept secret" kind of moment. Huge disappointment. That being said, Bischoff's debut was almost perfect, and a total shocker. The only gripe I have with it was showing him before the commercial rather then waiting until Vince made his "shocking announcement". His little interaction with Booker kinda deflated the big reveal after the commercial. Another poorly thought out plan by WWE.
