Ok, so just a little background. A few months ago, my girlfriend moved in with me after finally finding a job here where I live. She was living about 2 hours away, so it was definitely a big move. About 2 months ago, my car broke down and I lost my job delivering pizzas. I haven't found a replacement job yet, but I start school this week. So right now we're both living off of her weekly paycheck, which really is just enough to get by. Also, since neither of us have a car right now, we struggle every day to find her a ride to and from work. She's never missed a day, and she works 6 days a week, but it's still a serious hassle.
So there's been a few times that she's told me about things her boss has said about her behind her back. About a week ago she heard from the assistant manager, that he had referred to me as her "pimp". Apparently because the only time she has a definite ride to work is on Friday's. He was insinuating that I make sure to bring her on Friday's so that she can give me her paycheck. In reality, it's just easier to get my mom's car on Friday, and we do all of our shopping for groceries and whatnot on Friday's. Not that it's any of that tool's business anyway.
So yesterday she comes home from work, and starts off by telling me about some stuff she overheard her boss saying about somebody else. Really nasty stuff. Mind you, he was saying this stuff about the assistant manager of the store, in front of his employees. Stuff about the guy's kid not being his (it was his kids birthday and he was pissed that the asst. manager wasn't answering the phone). Then later, somebody told her that the guy was running his mouth about her. Apparently he was bitching about her getting a ride home one night from the asst. manager (again, no clue why he cares) and then he followed up with "I should go see her pimp and give him $40 so that I can give her a ride."
I don't even feel like I need to explain why it pissed her off, but I feel like I seriously need to do something in this situation. My instincts are telling me to just go up there and beat the pure crap out of the 40 yr old pervert, but I HATE jail and don't ever want to be there again. My intellectual side is telling me that there's just got to be some sort of sexual harrasment going on here (I mean, he IS kinda calling her a whore) but there's no concrete proof. She can't just up and quit her job because then we'll both be jobless, and it's pretty hard to find a job around here.
Crappers, any ideas?

Yeah I know what you'd like to do. You'd like to find the guy who did it, rip his still beating heart out of his chest and hold it in front of his face so he can see how black it is before he dies.

It'd be nice to pound the guy into the pavement... but a more tactful solution might be called for. Everyone has a boss, so maybe you should get your girlfriend and her co-workers to find his and put in some complaints.

He refers to you as a pimp and your first inclination is to pimpslap him?

Maybe you should just convince the dude you WILL pimp slap him. Instead of actually committing the felony, you scare the little bastard away and he doesn't commit his infractions of disrespect. (I guess first you have to secure the girl a better job with much less harassment from superiors, but you either draw the damn line or it gets drawn for you way too late.)
But what do I know? I never had a girlfriend to defend from an overbearing boss before. And if I did, I would have already told him to put his mouth on that curb.

Sexual harrassment suit should work here.

I'm with those who suggest the more cerebral approach. Tell your girl she needs to go to the manager's boss and let him/her know what is going on in the workplace. There's no reason that she cannot make an anonymous complaint against the guy for harassment.

It should get into his skull. Also, meantime, see if she can find another job (don't quit that one before she does tho)

Also forgot to mention, but in most workplaces, employees have the right to file harassment claims FREE FROM REPRISAL. That means that should she drop a claim on him, this guy CANNOT legally do anything to her as punishment, or in response to that claim, and should he do so, HE is open for immediate termination, and the place of business is open to a HUGE lawsuit.

Your girl should go to HR and tell them this story and there's a good chance that dirtbag will get fired for sexual harrassment.

Don't go into this all gung ho because you're going to have a hard time proving anything since almost all of what you are claiming is coming from second, or third hand information. The best approach would be for your girlfriend to tell one of the higher ups about what is going on, then if he continues to say hurtful things about her, get the people who were direct witnesses to go to the higher ups as well. In cases like these it is important to file some complaints and have witnesses to back you before jumping in guns blazing.

I'd go for the complaint option but try not to have her go it alone as it's likely to effect her future prospects there by being seen as a trouble maker, it's not fair but it happens, beating the shit out of him would make it even worse for her.
There's plenty of witnesses and I expect the assistant manager wouldn't be happy if he finds out what the twats been saying about him so I think getting him and anybody else on side first would be a good idea (unless it's true and he doesn't know).

Yea, the idea of kicking his ass is one of those situations where it feels like immediate vindication, but would just screw things up even worse. It sounds like all of the witnesses have agreed to speak up if it becomes necessary. I suggested that she calls the owner ASAP and let him know what's going on. If the guy fires her for being a "troublemaker" then I imagine that it would only help in the long run. I used to manage a Domino's here in town, and I have a pretty good understanding of how these things work though. The owner will more than likely get pissed off that somebody is questioning one of his managers, and it's doubtful that anything will be done about it. Especially since, from all accounts, the guy runs some really good numbers and whatnot. However, we did a bit of research today. It's really looking like if nothing is done to correct the situation, it will actually give her a stronger case. I guess if all else fails, I could just pimp slap him

There's no reason that she cannot make an anonymous complaint against the guy for harassment. He's got it. This is obviously causing mental anguish and is straight up against the law. Get your girlfriend to file a harassment claim. I don't know if she has a human resources department where she works, if so, makes sure she speaks to them as well. Consider getting the police involved. Harassment of any kind in the workplace is unacceptable and your girlfriend should be compensated for what has been said about her and you. Best of luck with this, and best of luck finding a job as well, I know it's rough out there.
