Here's something to discuss. Anybody agree, disagree? www.prowrestling.com/news.php?id=14791/articles/news--------------------------------------------------------------- Attempt To Ban WWE, News On Another RAW/SD Show Date Added: August 11, 2005 Story By: Ben Johnson Partial Source: PWInsider.com - WWE has confirmed plans to hold another Supershow on 9/12 in Little Rock, Arkansas. The event will feature a SmackDown! television taping, followed by a live presentation of WWE RAW. - A group of protesters in Vermont is currently attempting to get WWE banned from running shows in Burlington. The group, which protested outside a recent WWE show at the Burlington Memorial Auditorium, has expressed outrage at storylines involving sexual harassment and extreme violence. "We've seen in out takes from the footage sexual discrimination, sexual harassment, domestic violence acted out. All these things I don't want my kids seeing as acceptable entertainment," Wendy Huff told the Channel 3 News. The Burlington Parks & Recreation Board is investigating the situation and evaluating whether or not such a ban is even legal. One possible compromise on the table would involve labeling WWE events as "adults only," but WWE has, in the past, opposed such labels being placed on its shows.

Normally I'd comment on how people are generally stupid most of the time, but it's hard to defend WWe these days. The writing's super retarded.
The whole scenario with Kane/Matt/Edge/Snitsky/Lita in the last 12 months has a lot of things that are hard to explain.

While the WWE storylines are hard to defend, I'll point to a comment that RD made (i believe). Wrestling has never been the bastion of good taste in storylines, so why are people caring now.

Doesn't stop the people around here for endless amount of complaining. Be it HHH doing a skit about Kane have necrophelia (which in hindsight wasn't nearly as offensive I thought it would be, just really dumb), Kurt saying the word bestiality sex when referring to a black woman, HHH saying Booker T has Nappy Hair, and apparently people have all of hte sudden become sensitive to gay jokes when john cena does it even though few people ever complained when Rock did it almost every week, etc... Let's not forget the days of complaining for Hassan's terrorists, and a week later, to turn around and complain about UPN Banning Hassan because other peole found it offensive.

J money is on the money.
The same thing these soccer moms are moaning about is the same issues many of our current members and other wwe fans claim they are disgusted, offended and appauled by when such acts are aired on wwe programming.

The difference between many people on this site, and those mentioned in that article is that the people here don't think it's a big enough deal to go out and protest the WWE. The people on this board want to see the "E" do well, and get aggravated when dumbass angles and storylines get sent our way. Those people protesting hate the WWE because they can't dissect fantasy from reality, and think that screaming outside an arena will change the minds of anyone involved.
Big difference, I think.
Wrestling fans are pissed because they like the product and see it being screwed up.
These protesters never liked the product, and are using the bad storylines as an excuse to further their own agendas.

What are you their union rep...how do you know their intentions when they complain about the product? Did you ever think that maybe these people protesting are in fact the same members of the crap that are offended by every stone cold stunner to a woman or tasteless comment made in a promo?...did ya? j/k...justing busting your chops.

ok, one small point i want to put on the table, how many dates does wwe run in vermont? maybe one a year? i'm pretty such burlington isn't MSG or anything. If i recall correctly, WWF stopped running in seattle and portland for a number of years because of certain laws passed by local officals. Business wouldn't come grinding to a haul if they went to somewhere else besides vermont. Now on to these people, would they or have they ever bothered to watch wrestling until they heard from someone else that it was "offense." I hate it when people who would normally have nothing to do with the business feel the need to interfer with it because they frankly have nothing better to do. This woman who is quoted wouldn't be affected one way or the other if wwe was never shown in vermony again. But what about the wrestling fans in the area? What are they suppose to do if this ban goes through? She and others like her don't think about those people when they act like this. They just need to take up a cause to make themselves feel like they are important people, when in reality they are losers who will be forgotten soon.

Talking about banning the WWE is just ridiculous by these people:Sure, some of the storylines might be nasty, but when it comes down to it,the WWE is a business operating within the boundaries of the law,(though not usually within the boundaries of good taste),so there is no grounds to validate a ban.
Now,can these people boycott the WWE?Can they protest or picket they event provided they do so peacefully? Can they explain the content and encourage people to spend their money elsewhere?Sure, they can.As consumers and Americans, those are all perfectly viable and legal options, display your dislike bu hurting their bottom line, but demanding and outright ban is just pure idiocy.
Jeez,if people get that worked up over WWE product, maybe we shouldn't tell them about the feud Col.DeBeers and Jimmy Snuka had in the AWA 20 years ago?DeBeers,a pro-apartheid South Afrrican white man, when scheduled to wrestle Snuka, quite plainly stated on the mic that Snuka "was a black man,I refuse to get in the ring with a black man."
People today and all this PC,sensitivity training garbage have been sissified practically to the point of impotence.Everyone is so over-sensitive,so afraid that someone might be offended, that they lose sight of the bigger picture.Face it,no matter what you do someone is going to find a reason to be upset with it.People say things that are sometimes stupid or insulting, deal with it.....Life is NOT like Burger King.....You can't have it your way every time. It's about time society stops acting like a little baby that cries every time it has to deal with something it doesn't like until mommy and daddy coddles them and starts acting like grown-ups.

People are so stupid.
Its not like wwe is making the kids watch their shows. Its for responsible and mature people yet the parents who should be watching what the kids watch instead of using the tv as a tool to babysit their kid are once again showing their stupidity and how badly they do not know how to raise children.

I read this article earlier and it says she doesn't want her kid to see storylines like the kind WWE has.........Couldn't she just ban her kid from watching ti instead of running everyone else's fun?
Nah, that'd be too sensible

That's the modern world for you....nobody ever take any responsibility for themselves or their children,it's always everyone else job to do that....nevermind the fact that the World War 2 generation managed to work(and they actually worked, not this namby pamby do nothing crap most folks do these days,we're talking actually busting your butt) 8,10,or 12 hours a day at jobs far more tough than most people's jobs and still managed to be able to lay down the law enough with their kids to raise them properly, for the most part.

You want acceptable entertainment? How about taking your kids to get an ice cream cone? Asking them how their day at school went?
People of the world...you PISS me OFF!!!
