Can't think of anybody off the top of my head, probably because there's just such low expectations for anybody who comes into the big feds nowadays, since even if they've got talent they just get sucked into this whole 'generic muscular geek with tribal patterns on his tights' image that Vince McMahon seems to have for everybody.
Actually, one of the last guys I can remember who I thought really could've been a big deal was Zac Gowen. I mean, how hard is it to get behind a one legged man?

Ken Shamrock and Mike Sanders are definitely the two for me. I loved Ken Shamrock and wish he would of done more with the WWE

I don't get this whole loss storyline. He seems better than being in that kind of angle. They are treating his character like they treat the Goldust character now. They are just having him come out there with none of the extra stuff that added that special feel to MVP. Bring back the inflatable entrance and the pyro. Don't treat him like hes Goldust on a fifth run in the WWE. Totally agree. I really hope there is some big push that's going to come out this losing streak thing. Like Goldust back in the day, MVP has the potential to be capable of a whole lot.

Rene Dupree, although I may have been blinded by thinking he was really hot during his ECW stint. But he's apparently only 24, he could always come back.
I though fo' sho Elijah Burke would have gotten a far better treatment.
I also had high hopes for Raven in the WWE...whiiich were quickly slaughtered when his first feud was with an announcer.

I'm not counting some of the guys mentioned above as "washed up" yet. They still have some years ahead of them, especially Kenny. He's what, 22? He could literally come back ten years from now and still be considered fairly young.
After thinking about it, I'll have to go with former IWC champion Jimmy Vegas. Vegas was a large, musclebound heavyweight with natural heel charisma - a true rarity in a scene that thrives on cruiserweights, "hardcore heroes," and killer mic skills. I honestly expected him to get at least a development deal with the WWE, as Vince and the gang usually love that type of guy. The farthest he got was a few dark matches.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this one yet, because it was the first that sprang to mind: Ultimo Dragon in his WWE run. I thought for sure he'd at least have a decent Cruiserweight title run and have some good matches with Rey Mysterio, like in WCW. But they didn't do anything at all with him. And he was already an established international star, for snork's sake!
Also, as markish as it sounds, Glacier and Nathan Jones got me pretty hyped up by virtue of their pre-debut videos.

Also, I wouldn't say MVP has floundered yet since his losing streak is apparently for story line purposes, but I thought he'd be a main eventer by now. In the history of wrestling, has the "losing streak" gimmick EVER worked? I'm not being sarcastic, I honestly can't think of one. Raven, BJ Whitmer.... uh.... other guys.... those all pretty much did them in once and for all in the company they were in at the time.

That's why I'm really hoping they do something big with him after this whole losing streak thing is over. I guess we'll just wait and see...

DDP was on a losing streak in 95-early 96, losing the TV title, then the Diamond Doll, then his money and was in a role similar to where MVP is now but he had a mysterious benefactor and got new ring gear, new music and was on a winning streak again by the spring-early summer of that year.

Buff Bagwell.
WCW had a few chances to really push the guy but totally screwed it up

I was thinking Umaga could be a viable possibility, but Ahmed Johnson, Chris Harris, and Terry Taylor are definites.

Buff Bagwell. WCW had a few chances to really push the guy but totally screwed it up The perfect opportunity for WCW to really push Buff was when he came back following his neck injury. They had potentially, the next major babyface superstar on their hands. Instead, Buff immediately turns heel and joins the nWo.

The push that never came.
I was always sure one day Jim Powers would get a title run. I mean he had it all. The body, the move's, the mullett.

Jimmy Rave had a losing streak that led to him getting serious, developing the heel hook, and becoming a main even threat for a while. Davey Richards also had one that led to him forming the NRC with Roderick because he decided he needed backup.

The top 2 that come to mind to me are Ahmed Johnson and Buff Bagwell....
I thought Bagwell woould've been in the 99 Billy Gunn position as upper mid-carder to occasional Raw main eventer....

In the history of wrestling, has the "losing streak" gimmick EVER worked? It worked for Christian. It worked out for Chris Jericho as well, as it's what got his sore loser heel turn going.
