When ever I have gone to a indy wrestling show, I live by what JFK said: "ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country.". Just replace the word "country" with "wrestling". Sometimes the fans have to make the show great by doing stupid things, like bringing signs that enhance the experience, or the chants that brings interactivity. The point is fans can make or break a promotion, and in the case of ECW, it sent it straight to the moon, where as in the case of WCW, sent it straight to it's grave, because of what both promotions did for their fans.

"Carolina Panthers "Collins" Jersey Guy" Oh man, him too especially! Geezus, sometimes I hate this board because it makes me miss ECW even harder than I already do, which should be mathematically impossible. *goes to hug his ECW 1994-2001 VHS tape collection.... and maybe kiss it..................................*

Within legal limits, the ecw fans could've done anything including 'get themselves over' (they aren't workers? I dunno, whatever) and be alright in my book. As innovative as the company was, ECW was built on its fan base to a far greater extent than most wrestling companies. I second this notion. Plus, and I know this is gonna sound weird, but anyone who remembers the video game Mat Mania, the fans in the seats were not your run of the mill "average" fan. It had Darth Vader, Popeye, ZZ Top, Batman and Robin, etc. That attention to detal made Mat Mania one of the greatest wrestling games ever. - bretclark

My favorites were always Faith No More Guy and Vladimir (he was one of the ECW guys too, wasn't he? He would go to most of the WrestleManias, all the ECW shows and any other wrestling show that came through Philly, if I recall correctly.)

Is Vladimir the guy that always seemed to get on camera at WWF Pay Per Views, and wore glasses and was always marking out?

Yehh, you could usually find Vladimir wearing a vest, or a Hot Rod shirt, and a lot of the time he was with the dude with the ponytail who was at a lot of ECW shows

I think it is during the flaming tables match on November to Remember 2000 you can't see the guy but he must have been standing next to the mic because you can hear this weird voice giggling and saying 'we want tables'.

Faith No More Guy can be seen at lots of WWE-events too. He seems to be front-row or close in all of my mid-to-late-nineties dvds.

A lot of people will point to the Sign Guy or Hat Guy or Faith No More Guy. But if you look to your right by the ringpost, there was a guy who was almost a cross between Brian Pillman & Stevie Richards. He always wore a plaid cut-off shirt and did weird dances. Sitting by him would be the fans dressed as Dudleys. Other fans include: the two black guys who wore air-brushed ECW stuff that usually put down "the competition" and Rams Jersey Guy. I second Rams Jersey Guy. He did an awesome rendition of Psicosis' taunts during the even awesomer 2 out of 3 falls match on the Rise and Fall DVD. I'd like to bring up the huge guy with the big black beard that was usually on the entrance aisle. He looked somewhat like the wrestler Loch Ness. Good guy. I also loved the massive black security guy that used to stand where the aisle met the ringside area.

Also at Survivor Series 96 you can see him hugging Sid after he beat Shawn for the title

Hey is Vladimer and dreadlocks guy the same guy? For some reason I never see Vladimer or I guess I never notice him in the ECW crowd form dvds and stuff. Him and dreadlock guy look alike but dreadlock guy doesn't wear glasses so I don't know.
Vladimer must be like crazy rich. He was at Wrestlemanias going like all the way back to Wrestlemania 5 or something.
You know who I really hate though? WWE Sign Guy. He acts like the biggest mark. He was at the last RAW that was here in Kansas City and the guy acted like a douchebag. I would love to see original Hat Guy kick this guy's ass with a kendo stick.

Offer a fan club for people to get advanced seats for events 2. Address the fans as much as ECW did 3. Start their video packages with the fans chanting the company's name 4. Use fan footage of matches and other company events

My original point is a bit garbled anyway.
