Who is your favorite ECW fan. Mines was the "Original" Sign Guy Dudley (the dude at ringside) and the guy who wore a tye-dye shirt with a weight lifting belt.

The guy with the long black hair and goatee that wore the vest and sunglasses and sat next to sign guy and Hawaiian Shirt Guy.

None, fans shouldn't be trying to get themselves over at shows

None, fans shouldn't be trying to get themselves over at shows Damn right. They should just sit there and observe. Self-serving bastards.

Within legal limits, the ecw fans could've done anything including 'get themselves over' (they aren't workers? I dunno, whatever) and be alright in my book. As innovative as the company was, ECW was built on its fan base to a far greater extent than most wrestling companies.

Were the ECW fans' actions really all that different than brining posters to WWF and WCW shows of the same era? All they did was turn it up a notch. And the only reason people remember them is because they apparently never changed clothes and were able to attend all the shows--since they all happened at the same venue.

Straw Hat Guy and Faith No More Guy never did anything to get themselves over or take away from the shows. I guess you could say Sign Guy did, but come on, those signs were undeniably part of the ECW experience.

Loving the show, heckling people, having signs, chanting, I'd do the same things at a small, local band concert and I think that's the same feel ECW had, the same kind of environment.

My understanding is the fans aren't allowed to have any fun whatsoever in wrestling, or at least according to 90% of live ROH show reports I read.

I don't think anyone is saying that, just that they shouldn't go to the extent of trying to have their own gimmicks (See Green Lantern Fan from ROH) as it gets rather annoying to people around them.

GLF is a phenomenon all his own. Few, if any, others are such tools. But who cares if some guys showed up at shows wearing the same shirt or hat all the time? Or came carrying signs? They're just having fun? This is pro wrestling. No the Sundance Film Festival.

This is so dead on. What set ECW apart from WWF/WCW was the fact that it was more intimate and had a feeling like you were a part of something. Hat Guy, Sign Guy, and Faith No More Guy all added to the experience and made it special. ECW isn't the only company to have the perennial fan. What about that guy that has been at almost all the Wrestlemanias? I think his name is Ivan or something. Glasses, short hair, sits in the front row. Watch WM9 and you'll see him right there.

A lot of people will point to the Sign Guy or Hat Guy or Faith No More Guy.
But if you look to your right by the ringpost, there was a guy who was almost a cross between Brian Pillman & Stevie Richards. He always wore a plaid cut-off shirt and did weird dances. Sitting by him would be the fans dressed as Dudleys.
Other fans include: the two black guys who wore air-brushed ECW stuff that usually put down "the competition" and Rams Jersey Guy.

I know who you mean, his name is Vladimir and from what I understand (not sure if it's true or not) he went to school with Shane McMahon. I also saw him at an ROH show when Liger came in for that Weekend of Thunder doubleshot.
