Luger was already on his way out of Florida and headed towards the Crockett promotion. Brody decides to stop cooperating with the prima donna in the middle of a cage match. Ref Bill Alfonzo realizes what's about to happen and tells Luger to get the hell out of Dodge pronto.

I've seen the conclusion of that before but not the match prior. Brody was a great monster worker, but man he could be an ass at times. Good on Fonzy for getting Lex out of there, and then staying in the cage with Bruiser, who couldn't have been happy.

Shoot or not, know what I found odd about the whole thing? Fonzie got shoved down near the end, yet popped right back up. When was the last time you've seen a referee get knocked down and did that?
I never really understood the appeal of Bruiser (King Kong) Brody. Sure, in the AWA he was used as the ultimate problem-solver; if Greg Gagne ever got to a point he couldn't get the better of Jerry Blackwell, just pick up the phone and call Brody. If Sheik Adnan Al-Kaissee needed a guy who could match up with Scott Hall, call in Brody.
But overall, his matches just bored me. Maybe there's something I'm not getting about him. He was one of the bigger guys in wrestling that wasn't bloated or juiced up, he had agility. What was it I was supposed to be impressed with?

I think they should try to turn Mike Knox into Bruiser Brody.
And by "should try" I mean "are trying."

I think this is the old IWC stereotype of 'He was better in Japan', because he was. I've got a ton of his US stuff and as fun as the promos are and some of the matches againt Crusher Blackwell, Rick Rude, The Freebirds and Ric Flair - a lot of what i've seen seem to be squashes against nobody's.
Japan however is full of fantastic matches against Inoki, The Funks, Superfly, Hansen and Gordy, absolutely unbelievable stuff, the people were crazy for him and he was a huge presence.

What's the history on this? What was Brody's reasoning for no-selling everything Luger did? IMO Brody looks like a total ass because instead of an exciting cage match, the fans saw Luger killing himself throwing punches at Brody who just stood there looking like a jerk.

Basically, Luger was already signed to Crockett and was getting a big head about his road to superstardom. Brody got tired of it, and like Brody did quite often, went into business for himself despite it killing the match. Brody is, after all, the same guy that once killed a territory by putting a guy in a headlock for 45 minutes (or had the other guy put him in a headlock for 45 minutes, I forget).

I liked Bruiser Brody, but yeah, he was an ass quite a few times.

Gotcha, thank you for your help. Seems like the only time I've ever seen Brody on a somewhat "regular" basis was on the old magazine-style show Pro Wrestling This Week, because Brody never stood still in one territory. One week, he was fighting Rick Rude in World Class, the next week it was a bloodbath against Abdullah the Butcher in Puerto Rico.
