Tugboat Taylor (the original Tugboat), lifetime heel, saves rookie face Chaz. There was a lot of stupid s*** going on in GWF around this time, but this was a good, simple angle done fairly well.

I had no idea Lightning Kid was ever a heel in GWF

This is similar to a super super hot angle in Stampede, can't remember who was involved.
This is an awesome angle style that, sadly we probably won't see again because of the fact that we all know who is who's son.
The interviewer wasn't nearly as stunned as he should've been with that revelation.

Chaz, there's a name I haven't heard in a while. Did he ever go beyond "popular face jobber"?

I think Global, at one time, was one of the more under-appreciated promotions out there. I mean, just look at all the future stars that wrestled there: The Patriot. Booker T & Stevie Ray. John Bradshaw Layfield. Sean "Lightning Kid/Syxx/X-Pac" Waltman. Even some of the lesser-stars got TV time in one of the national promotions: Jerry Lynn. Alex Porteau. Barry Horowitz. "The Handsome Stranger" Marcus Bagwell.
Chaz won their light heavyweight championship from the Lightning Kid for a short spell. And who beat the Kid later on for the same belt? His life-long nemesis, Jerry Lynn, who was pretty much treated like some guy off of the street. He lost the belt to Barry Horowitz, which was supposedly his "first-ever win"; reprising his Jack Hart loser-character from Florida.
Global had some good stuff, but unfortunately they had a lot of silly stuff that negated any good things. You had Rude Dog, a black guy who thought he was a four-legged friend, including the sniff-and-pretend "piss on the audience" bit. (One time, one of the good guys brought in a real cat, and Rude Dog got counted out because he was chasing it around the arena.) "Maniac" Mike Davis, who was probably the strangest wrestler you'll ever see. The "bungee" match, where two guys fight in a cherry picker basket and the loser gets thrown over.
All said, I miss seeing this on TV.

I could be wrong but I think this is the promotion that had a pretty decent tag division at the time. I only caught a few episodes on ESPN (the times kept switching so it was hard to find) but I remember Conan Chris Walker and........another guy winning the straps and the crowd going berzerk. Even though it's a pretty hazy memory (I can only recall ONE of four guys) I remember being caught up in that particular feud and tried to find the show specifically for that alone.
Wasn't this also the promotion that gave us the Patriot/Dark Patriot feud? As dumb as that was I dug it at the time.
I think this was also the last promotion I saw Eddie Gilbert wrestle in full on heel mode. The crowd ate it up.
Tug Taylor is just as uncharismatic as I remember.

Probably Steve Simpson who teamed with Walker. Yes, this is where the Patriot/Dark Patriot feud happened. DP was Doug Gilbert, Eddie's brother.

Tugboat Taylor was Chaz's dad, right?!
It used to come on ESPN every day at 1:00 PM, and I always watched it.
How did I watch it if I had school until 3 everyday? I have no clue.

I also remember The Patriot winning the North American Title and some other title in tournaments, and then giving up the title because he didn't win it fairly.

This is an awesome angle style that, sadly we probably won't see again because of the fact that we all know who is who's son. Yep. Here's another example, from Georgia Championship Wrestling, in which Buzz Sawyer accompanies his Legion of Doom comrades Jake Roberts and Precious Paul Ellering to the ring to watch Roberts wrestle young Brett Wayne. Finally, Sawyer can't take anymore, and another of wrestling's brother relationships is revealed:

The only thing I remember from this fed is watching the Lightning Kid vs. Jerry Lynn.

Lightning Kid was such a great heel because he looked like he was 14 and didn't depend on some big brute to back up his big mouth. Kid would back up his trash-talk with some really awe-inspiring aerial moves.
I was a fan of the Ebony Experience as well. Looking at the title holders list, I see that Stevie Ray ("Suckas gots to know" Stevie, not the "surfer Wild Thing" Stevie Ray from the UWF) held the TV title and the tandem held the tag titles 3 times.
